CAPABILITIES YOU CAN COUNT ON CRiTiCal level a systems architecture design expertise Model-Based design and QUaliFied dal-a auto-coding Thales applies current design standards and assurance levels to its dedicated systems specifically, ARP4754 System design standard and ARP4761 Safety design standard. Thales uses the SCADE System, a tool for models graphic implementation developed specifically for use on critical systems. With GALA, Thales qualified in-house code generator, coding to model-based requirements ensures automatic elimination of all code errors. Software development for all design assurance levels, including level A, comply with software guidance RTCA DO-178, a document dealing with the safety of software used in airborne systems. Hardware development standards are in accordance with RTCA DO-254, a document providing guidance for the development of airborne electronic hardware. System functions are designed with controlling and commanding hardware components which integrate software or firmware types. Thales Canada, Avionics Highly Qualified Experts Conduct flight critical systems development Design and develop critical system architectures Collaborate with customers in the system requirement definition phase Define subsystem requirements and lead procurement management Perform system component integration, verification and qualification Perform full system level verification, validation and qualification Develop Integrated system test rig, real-time Integration, Verification and Validation (IVV) tools Develop software for modular system architecture Provide proven project engineering leadership on highly complex programs Ensure Quality Assurance involvement from project inception Developing systems with the highest standards and assurance levels. Development of control laws requires multiple iterations and tuning. Turn around times need to be quick and error free. GALA is highly efficient for software iterations and reduces the lead-times for different software loads. SCADE/GALA provides agility and responsiveness while ensuring that the code generated will be right the first time. Using SCADE and GALA tools and processes have contributed to Thales success on many notable and innovative aircraft programs. The test environment is enhanced by automation including real-time, high-fidelity simulation and representative models. Co-location of the IVV and system engineering teams results in greater efficiency of the IVV task. IVV tasks are performed and supported by Thales Canada, Avionics throughout the Certification Cycle Software verifications with automated tools Full system test validation and verification on representative system test rigs Validation and verification of all interfaces Integration and investigation of hardware-software and software-software Thales Canada, Avionics demonstrates systems compliance to environmental constraints via qualification testing to RTCA DO160 standards. Critical System Integration, Verification and Validation (IVV) Thales Canada, Avionics provides the following services which comply to certification authorities regulations: in-house IVV expertise; advanced test bench design; development and integration environment for computer platforms; systems and actuation test rigging. Embedded Critical Software Development Expertise Thales Canada, Avionics is recognized for its range of capabilities in software development for hardware applications (input/output management; microprocessor architecture knowledge; high bandwidth data loaders) and for its computing applications (real-time operating system monitors; application software development). Design and development of compact and rapid Real-Time Operating Systems Core software is developed for PowerPC microprocessors Application software is developed from model-based requirements DO-178B DAL-A qualified auto-coding generates 90% of the application software Software development for control-critical computer platforms (e.g. Flight Control Computers) Mature and efficient tools and processes allow for competitive, in-house software development Multi-Language Expertise: C, Ada and PowerPC Assembly coding languages Quality Assurance involvement from project inception 4 THALES CANADA INC.
