Overview As the volume of data, in particular, unstructured data, continues to expand at an unprecedented rate, organizations will need to build their capability in business analytics to remain competitive. The ISS Masters programme will groom business savvy data specialists to analyse data to gain valuable insights, and develop effective solutions to help companies address their various challenges. - Mr Ronnie Tay, former CEO, InfoComm Development Authority, Singapore. The use of information technology has enabled businesses to gather ever-mounting volumes of data internally and externally, which can overwhelm management if such useful resources are not catalyzed to drive growth. In recent years, Business Analytics has been helping organizations across industries gain powerful insights to become smarter, more productive, and better at making predictions. Behind this transformation are data scientists who have been trained to help companies develop new ways of acquiring, organizing, managing and analyzing the mass amount of data to improve competitive advantage. As a result, more and more companies are seeking the help of such talents to plan and manage their advanced analytics needs and to handle the challenge on their existing IT infrastructure due to the huge data volumes, complex data sources and the speed to move the data in order to achieve better outcomes. Business analytics has become a prestigious and highly rewarding profession. In advanced Western economies rapidly increasing demand for such expertise has led to a big shortage of people with incisive analytics skills. The McKinsey Global Institute forecasts a 50 to 60 percent gap between the supply and demand of people with deep analytical talent; 140,000 to 190,000 unfilled positions of data analytics experts in the U.S. by 2018.
