Mississippi Access to Care Plan Draft Consumer Education Focus Group - Draft 1 May 10, 2001 Major Focus Area: Consumer Education Key Element A: Public Education and Awareness Goal 1: Mississippi government will promote initiatives passed in House Bill 929, 2001 Regular Session of the Mississippi Legislature. a. Announce passage of House Bill 929 and its specific initiatives for Mississippi citizens. Advocacy groups newsletters Executive branch press conference Press releases Organization and association newsletters Other public service announcements State agencies newsletters Goal 2: Mississippians will be provided with timely, accurate public education to promote greater awareness of the available service delivery system. b. Examine existing written informational content to determine accuracy, currency and effectiveness. advocacy organizations broadcast media Internet-based web pages and linkages state government agencies non-profit agencies other affiliated bodies print media resource directories

c. Design resource or program modifications to close information gaps and/ or correct informational inaccuracies.
