Flagship Managed Solutions (FMS) a Cloud service iseries application hosting provides an alternative to the traditional iseries ownership costs, management and administration. Elimination of high up-front hardware costs and software fees Flexibility for changing infrastructure needs Improve security and disaster recovery capability Reduce administration and operations time Reduce and simplify overall costs Flagship Implex Datacenter Built into a former underground bank vault Redundant cooling Redundant power with battery backup and 7 day diesel generator Direct connection to 3 major fiber loops 24/7 video surveillance and physical security Servers are located at the highly secure Implex Data Center in Minneapolis Connection is via VPN over the internet iseries Access used at client end Separate Virtual Server for each client New Power6 or Power7 servers Daily backups on separate tapes

FMS Features Sufficient CPW, memory and disk to provide superior performance for existing applications and new applications All required IBM licensed programs Proper user authorization count for each client Hardware and software maintenance Maintain current PTF and patch levels Performance tuning and monitoring Daily backups on separate tapes for each client Daily or weekly rotation of backups to a separate secure location Prompt resolution of any hardware or IBM software maintenance issues Client Responsibilities Administering and maintaining Non-IBM application software Adding or removing users or devices Managing user security iseries Access client management software Implementation Considerations There will be a one time setup fee to implement your applications and data on the hosted server. Certain cost factors include: Are you still using any twinax printers or workstations? Will an OS version upgrade be involved? Does your firewall have site to site VPN capability? Other unusual circumstances? We estimate that setup charges will be between $2,000 - $4,000 depending on the above. We promise to exceed our client s expectations!

Disaster Recovery (DR) Plans Basic Protection Included in FMS price No additional charge All data is RAID protected on our servers High security data center with redundant services Full backups performed nightly Rotation of 3 sets Tapes cycled to a second offsite secure storage location Daily or weekly backups depending on option selected Hardware uptime guaranteed in SLA of contract DR testing available Priced per test Enhanced Protection Replication to a second server at a second data center Constant, realtime replication using Itera Software Full failover capability in the event of a disaster Replication does not use your bandwidth Simplified DR testing using Virtual Failover Because of the requirement for a second server, data center, hardware and software maintenances, and replication software licensing and maintenances, the cost for this enhanced level of protection would be an additional $500-$800 per month. Call us today to find out more or to discuss if this is the right option for your business. Call 1-800-416-8900

Cost Comparison Cloud Cost Estimate Pricing will vary depending on number of users, data size, and CPW requirements Add $25 per month for daily offsite rotation 5% discount for annual payment with additional discounts for multi-year contract Estimated starting cost for a typical iseries client - $499 - $799 per month Versus Owning and Maintaining the Infrastructure A sample cost of ownership looks like this: New Power7 server (Entry Level) w/30 users $ 25,000 Annual depreciation (3 year life) $ 8,333 Annual HW and SW maintenance $ 2,562 Annual electricity estimate $ 480 Labor to maintain (managing backups, PTFs, etc) 1 hour per day, $20/hour $ 5,200 Total estimated annual cost $ 16,575 Monthly estimated ownership cost $ 1,381 Minimum Monthly cost savings $582 Contact us for your free analysis today to see if your enterprise fits! FMS FAQ s How will user response time compare to my current server? Because the iseries is a centralized processing environment, response times are largely a function of processing speed. Even with the latency associated with remote access over the internet, response times will be equal to or better than what you have now. Let us prove it! How much internet bandwidth will I need? Flagship has done extensive testing of bandwidth requirements. In most environments we tested, it was discovered that the average bandwidth utilization was 11Kb/sec during the day, or less than 100 th of a T1 speed. Because of the nature of an iseries, they are very bandwidth efficient. What if I sign up and it just isn t working for me? Flagship guarantees the performance of this solution. You will not pay anything until the solution is working to your complete satisfaction, and regardless of the length of agreement you sign, you have the right to cancel with a 30 day notice if you are unhappy with the level of service. What if my internet goes down? The Flagship Data Center site is directly connected to 3 major internet fiber loops. The combined uptime percentage is well over 99.9%. The bigger concern would be your individual internet connection. Flagship offers some low cost solutions for redundancy and automatic failover at your location if this is a concern. We would be glad to provide you with individual options based on what is available in your area. What about OS version updates? Because Flagship will be maintaining IBM software maintenance (SWMA) on your server, there is no cost of version updates from IBM. However, the cost of implementing a version update is not included in your monthly fee, and would be an additional charge. Because of the additional control and the fact that the server is local to us, we would expect that fee to be much less than what it would cost to do the same upgrade on a server at your site. What about Data Security? Virtual servers on an iseries (LPARS) operate as if they were separate physical servers. Data can not be shared internally between virtual servers. User access and security is maintained in the same fashion it is today, with your user profiles determining who can access particular apps and files.

But won t Flagship have access to my system? Yes, we will need occasional administrative access to perform various tasks. But, you will have full ability to lock us out of the system just like any other user. If you are not comfortable with allowing us permanent access, you can turn on our access when we need it, monitor our activities, and then turn off access when we are done. This can also be done with any other vendors that may need access to your system. What about the IBM Licensed Programs on my current server? You won t need them. Flagship will provide the IBM Licensed programs you need. You retain the legal right to your licensed programs in the event that you move back to your own iseries in the future. What if I am running at an old OS level? We have the ability to run at V5R4 and up. If you are running an older version of the OS, we have the experience and expertise to upgrade your programs and data to run under a more current release of the OS. By choosing the Hosting option, you do not have to pay the SWMA charges and penalties in order to move to a more current level. Can I continue to run programs in Sys36 Environment mode? Yes, IBM is continuing to support Sys36 Environment even in the latest release, V7R1. Our host servers can run your applications in this mode or in a combination of Sys36 Environment and native. What if I have multiple locations? Hosting works great with multiple locations such as branch offices or individuals on the road, as well as providing access for selected vendors and clients. One of the nice benefits is that the other locations do not use up the main location bandwidth as they all communicate directly to the host. Where will the system console be? Unlike prior generations of iseries, any PC connected to the server with iseries Access can be designated as a system console. You can have multiple designated system consoles, with the limitation that only one can be used as a system console at any one time.
