NIGHTINGALE COLLEGE, LLC FUTURE OF NURSING SCHOLARSHIP (FNS) GENERAL The Future of Nursing Scholarship (FNS) program is designed to recognize academic excellence and community service among high school seniors pursuing a degree in nursing at Nightingale College following high school graduation. ELIGIBLITY REQUIREMENTS Any high school student meeting the following minimum eligibility criteria may apply for the FNS: Earned a minimum high school GPA of 3.00 Enrolled as a high school senior in good standing at the time of application Plans to enroll and matriculate in a degree program at Nightingale College in the Fall semester, immediately following high school graduation Qualifies for enrollment in a degree program according to the established admissions criteria APPLICATION ELEMENTS Completed and legible application Official high school transcripts Essay: How will you make a difference as a nurse? 2 Recommendation letters: o High school teacher o Non-family, non-friend community member or employer TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS President s FNS one (1) scholarship awarded per academic year o 25% off tuition charges only for up to 8 semesters (current value: up to $20,040) o Must maintain a minimum 3.3 GPA in every semester in order to receive the scholarship in the following semester. The scholarship is automatically applied to the first semester s tuition charges. o Does not qualify for the Flame! Forward! Scholarship (FFS) Honors FNS a maximum of fifteen (15) scholarships awarded every academic year o $1,000 off tuition charges in the first semester o May qualify for the FFS SELECTION CRITERIA AND PROCESS Applications will be ranked based on points earned for the following: High School GPA Community Service Extra-curricular activities related to health and wellness care Essays Recommendations The selection committee will be comprised of a program manager, a faculty member, and a nonprogram staff member. The committee will review and rank all applications according to the selection criteria and present the top three applicants to the Leadership Council who will select the recipient of the President s FNS. The top fifteen applicants beside the recipient of the President s FNS will be awarded the Honors FNS. All awardees will be notified via U.S. Postal Service and provided instructions for applying to a College s degree program.
