It is one of the most important architectonic symbols in town. In a short walk distance, you will find Cais do Porto, where you can go onboard the Cisne Branco and enjoy the view from Guaíba estuary. This square is surrounded by historical buildings, such as MARGS, Memorial do RS and Santander Cultural. The building projected by Alvaro Siza, famous Portuguese archtitect is a landmark in Porto Alegre, and probably the best spot in town to check the famous Guaiba sunset. The administrative, religious and cultural center of RS, where the executive, legislative and judiciary branches of the government are located. The square is surrounded by other historical buildings. Also called Redenção. It is a nice place for a walk on Sundays. There is an important flea market, called Brique da Redenção where you find local handmade art craft, antiques and furniture. Inside the park is located Café do Lago, a place with live music and different kinds of coffee.
