Masters in Management Information Systems (MIS) 1. Program Description MIS program provides strong organizational knowledge of information systems technologies for people with an undergraduate degrees in MIS, as well as those with undergraduate degrees in other business or non-business areas. The program is particularly noteworthy to those with a non-business undergraduate degree. The program prepares to students for a career as a systems analyst, business analyst or consultant. In recent years, the growing need to find new ways to develop and manage information has given rise to activities that combine elements of both computer science and management science. Although closely related, these elements are distinct. The focus is on the intersection of management and technology. The distinguishing feature of this program is its integrated approach to technical, organizational and systems elements within the curricula that will enable future managers and technical specialists to interact effectively in organizations. Our mission is to create analysts and managers who will lead their companies in global markets through the effective and strategic use of technology. Everything we will do in the MIS program begins with the conviction that for all firms in all future markets, sustainable competitive advantage will be built upon a technological foundation. The traditional approach to business education is isolated from technology. Aspiring technologists to enter the schools of engineering and science, while aspiring business managers matriculate in schools of business. The latter learn about management but not technology, the former about technology but not management. MIS program is a bridge between management and technology. The MIS program prepares students to analyze, design, develop, implement, coordinate, and control computerized information systems within organizational contexts. Graduates of the MIS Program will: Conceptualize how IT enables business strategies and operations in functional areas.

Demonstrate proficiency in the analysis, design, and technical aspects of IT projects, including how to elicit, interpret, and document the information needs of clients, users, management, and other stakeholders. Evaluate current and emerging technologies and advise organizations on their applications. Solve problems and make decisions and generate recommendations. Possess a foundation of technical skills to facilitate a career in the area of Management Information Sciences. Understand hardware, software, and organizational environments in which MIS developers work. Use critical thinking skills and a variety of general problem-finding/solving strategies and techniques. Apply systems theory concepts and methods to solve problems and capitalize on opportunities. ModelEffectively work flows and work group interactions Communicate effectively (i.e., verbally, paper based prose and electronic documentation). Develop application systems by employing appropriate methodologies, techniques, tools, and languages. Understand current trends in technology and learn to adapt to a changing computing environment. Understand conceptual skills, resources, and learning approaches needed for continuous professional development. 2. Program Prerequisites Students seeking admission to ASUE MBA program should have appropriate knowledge of English language in order to take English language courses. Applicants to the program should have already earned a bachelors diploma or equivalent in related field. 3. Academic Standards MBA degree requires 120 ECTS credits, 30 for each semester. The duration of the program is 2 academic years or 4 semesters. Internship is organized during the 4th semester. Academic year has two semesters Fall semester (September-December) and Spring Semester (February May). Exam sessions are organized in January for Fall Semester and in June for Spring Semester. The programs usually start in Fall Semester,

but for special cases it can start also from Spring Semester. Each semester consists from 17 weeks with auditorium classes (lectures, seminars and labs). Structure and content of curriculum and grading norms for each subject are defined in course syllabuses. In ASUE grade is based on the weights of components distributed on total percentage of points. 4. Program Structure The ASUE MIS is composed of 120 ECTS credits. The curriculum is designed for deeper understanding of management problems and the business firm s position in the economic structure of society. Courses give from 3 to 5 ECTS credits.the curriculum has four main components: core fundamentals, MBA core, elective courses, and experiential learning. I. Core Fundamentals: Core Fundamentals consists of 2 required courses (total 7 ECTS credits), which gives students understanding of business English, research methods and communication skills. The following courses are required: Business English (3 ECTS credits) Research Methodologies (4 ECTS credits) II. The MIS Core: The MIScore (total 58 credits) consists of 13 required courses in the major functional areas of information systems theory and practice and high level study of management and economic contexts of business environment. The MBA core provides students understanding the techniques for solving managerial problems with the application of IT and Information Systems. The following courses are required: 1. Managing the Digital Firm (5 ECTS credits) 2. Advanced Microeconomics (4 ECTS credits) 3. Strategic Management (4 ECTS credits)

Decision Making Methods and Tools (5 ECTS credits) 9. IT Markets (5 ECTS credits) 10. Network Economy (5 ECTS credits) 11. WEB Systems Development (5 ECTS credits) 12. Information Systems Analysis and Design (5 ECTS credits) 13. Information Technology Project Management (4 ECTS credits) III. Elective courses: ASUE designed flexible curriculum for MIS to allow students to get knowledge in special areas of interest. During the 3 rd semester program offers 4 elective courses with total 20 ECTS credits. The list of electives is subject to dynamic change. ASUE MIS provides students with the opportunity to specialize in different functional areas, such as Data Management, IS Marketing, E- Commerce. IV. Experiential Learning: Two internships are organized during the program. Internship 1 (5 ECTS credits) is organized within the university. The aim is to provide students to work in educational environment and gain teaching skills. Internship 2 (15 ECTS credits) is research and practical oriented and is organized in business environment. During 3 semesters students are working on the Masters Thesis (15 ECTS credits), which must be presented in 4 th semester. For each student scientific adviser is appointed. 5.Tuition and Accommodation Tuition: 880.000AMD for one academic year.
