Objectives Information technologies are the core of the new industrial revolution that we are living. Information Systems are a key driver of value creation in business. The MIS Master objective is to train professionals to work at the highest level in companies where information technologies play an essential role. At the end of the Master program, students should: Have a deep knowledge of the fundamental concepts of information technologies Understand the business value of information technologies, with a good vision of the stakes related to these technologies in terms of strategy, organization and management Know how to work in team on high technology, complex and global projects Be able to evolve on all the levels of responsibility, in an international context in constant and fast evolution. Students in search of specialization in business and management use of information systems bring their richness to the Master Career opportunities The first careers to which the Master prepares are: Project managers IT consultants R&D engineers Information systems architects. Some students choose more original ways: analyst in Venture Capital Firm, marketing position in IT companies, entrepreneur. Program The MIS Master uses in a balanced way three complementary teaching forms: Advanced courses, ensured by a team of high-level academics and IT professionals & managers 50 % of the activities Case studies, practical works, seminars, projects animated by experts. These are team-based, problem-solving and real-cases oriented activities 40 % of the activities In-site activities, for a better knowledge of the world of technology companies (international study trip, sites visits, conferences/ debates, internship...) 10 % of the activities. The Master is held over 16 months, from September to December: September April: courses at ECP May December: internship. The internship is a real professional assignment which takes place in a company and results in a professional thesis. International environment Information Technology is a global business. The MIS Master provides an international environment: 20 % of the activities are in English, 80 % in French 30 % of the students are foreigners More than 20 nationalities are represented on the campus A language course is provided (1h30 per week) A study trip of 3 days in Europe is organized at the beginning of the year Industrial partnership The MSI Master has strong relationship with a group of industrial partners that provide us: Insight for the program definition Professionals responsible for case studies High-level internship for the students (half of our students undertake an internship with these partners, the other half with other companies). Application process ADMISSION CRITERIA Graduate holding a degree equivalent of 5 years of university studies; exceptionally the director of the ECP may consider applicants who do not fulfil the above criteria but whose credential, academic or otherwise, are outstanding. Fluent in English Command of French language is needed at the beginning of the Master. A one month preparation course can be done during summer. CALENDAR FOR THE SELECTION PROCEDURE 2007 Two selection procedures will take place for September 2008. Candidates for ECP IT Master have to send their application to the ECP Masters Admissions at the following dates: First selection procedure: Deadline for application (application form fully completed): February 25, 2008 Interviews: before mid of March 2008 Admission jury and response to the candidates: before end of March 2008 Second selection procedure: Deadline for application (application form fully completed): May 19, 2008 Interviews: before end of May 2008 Admission jury and response to the candidates: before mid of June 2008 The number of students being limited, application files received first will have a greater chance to be selected. It should be fully completed. Candidates who fulfill the admission criteria will be called for an interview. The interview is held by a professor from ECP MIS Master. The objective is to assess the candidate s profile, potential and aptitude for applying to the Master. ECP MIS Master - 5
Education cost Tuition fees Fees are set at 12,500 for 2008, including administration costs and university fees, but not including health insurance. Successful applicants must confirm their registration by making an initial payment of 800 before the 30 th of June 2008. These administrative costs cannot be reimbursed in the event of withdrawal. The remaining payment should be made at the start of the degree course, in September 2008. Typical budget for Master students (average) Registration fees 12,500 Health-Care Cover 400 University Halls of Residence or local accommodation 4,800 University Refectory (2.8 Euros per meal) 2,300 Total (12 months) 20,000 Possible sources of funding Professionally oriented, all the Masters include an internship period of 7 months. Students are paid during their internships (an average of 1000 to 1500 per month), which enables them to fund up to 40% of their studies. Many banks offer preferential loan rates (with a minimum of one year to repay) to students of ECP who wish to fund their studies this way. Students from certain countries may be eligible for home-government or home-university sources of funding, or for "Eiffel" scholarships awarded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs upon recommendation by Ecole Centrale Paris. Students who had previous French work experience may benefits from French government funding (Fongecif, Pap, regional funding ). ECP MIS Master - 6
