Philosophies and Objectives The objective of the program is to promote the advancement of computer science knowledge as well as the development of every student to his or her highest potential so that each may make the maximum contribution to the improvement of this area of study. Graduates will be trained to have a sound knowledge and understanding of both managerial and problem-solving skills with ability to carry out research in computer science and important functions in information technology. 5. Effective Academic Year There are two semesters per year: Fall (May August) and Spring (September January). The summer session (February April) is also provided as an option. 6. Applicants Qualifications The program is designed for applicants with - Undergraduate majors in computer science, computer engineering, computer applications and related fields. - Applicants without such degrees can apply if they can provide certificates of computer science studies of programming language, operating systems, computer architectures, database systems, and data structure. - Each Applicant is required to submit the best result of English proficiency test (either TUGET--Thammasat University Graduate English Test-- result, or TOEFL result, or IELTS result). - Applicants are required to take both written examinations and an interview 7. Admission Requirements If ones want to apply for the Master s degree program in Computer Science, they need to submit the following documents to the program office:

2 Completed Application Form The applicant must fill in the application form with typing or with legible handwriting. Photos must be attached as stated in the application form. Application fee is Baht 500. Academic Record The applicant must provide their final transcripts of computer science or related fields from a certified institution. Or the applicant without computer science background are required to show documents or course certificates which can determine the applicants have experienced in these computer science courses programming, computer architecture & organization, database systems, data structures, and operating systems. The documents or course certificates must be from certified institutions or universities. Proof of English Proficiency The applicant should submit the proof of English proficiency (either TUGET, or TOEFL, or IELTS) along with the application. For any details of TUGET, please contact the Language Institute of Thammasat University at tel: or its website at Letter of Recommendation The applicant is required to submit two letters of recommendation for further evidence of your qualifications to join the program. 8. 4 10. Registration Each student must register for a minimum of 6 credits and a maximum of 12 credits per semester. Other requirements are in accordance with Thammasat University's Regulations on Graduate Studies, Academic Performance Evaluation and Graduation 11.1 Grading: The grading system will be in accordance with Thammasat University s regulation number 11 for graduate studies, There are nine course grades and points as follows: Grade A A- B+ B B- C+ C D F Point Students may audit some coursed as required. Only two grades are available for auditors: P for pass and N for fail. For the comprehensive (or thesis qualifying) examination, there are two grades: a "P" (pass) or an "N" (fail). A withdrawal from a course is marked as a W. Withdrawals are allowed only within the first two weeks of a regular semester. If withdrawals are made without proper arrangements, a grade F will be assigned. Under unforeseen circumstances, a student can withdraw from the course work after the first two weeks of the regular semester. However, a grade "I" for incomplete course work will be given. The "I" must be removed within ninety days after the semester ends; otherwise a grade F will be assigned Graduation Requirements: In order a student to be awarded a Master of Science in Computer Science, he or she must fulfill the following requirements: 1. The student must complete all courses according to the curriculum and follow all rules, regulations of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Thammasat University. 2. The student must attain a minimum cumulative grade point average of Thesis option students must pass their thesis defenses and their work should be published in science and technology journals or conference proceedings. Students should at least have formal letters to identify that their paper are being reviewed for publication. 4. The time limitation for a student to complete requirements for the degree is according to Thammasat University regulations for Master s Degree Study. Based on the current curriculum, students need to complete all requirements within four years. 5. The student must be in good financial standing with the University. 12. 5 14. Venue and Facilities The office is located at Br.2 Building, Department of Computer Science. There are five research laboratories i.e. - Natural Language Comprehending - High Performance Computing - Software Engineering - Image Processing/Computer Graphics - Human Computer Interaction There is one common room for student meeting. Budget 200, ,000 baht/curriculum 17. Curriculum Students must complete 45 credits, including 18 credits for 6 core courses and 15 credits for 5 elective courses. Students can choose a thesis or a non-thesis option. For the thesis option, students have to register 12 credits for the thesis. For the non-thesis option, students must take 6 credits for an Individual study and other 6 credits for two more seminar or selected topics courses. 18.
