Freeform Software Crossbows can provide freeform software for the production of finished progressive lenses from semi-finished spheres where the progressive surface is machined on the concave side and incorporates the patient s prescription. File outputs can be generated for a range of freeform equipment including machinery from Schneider, Optotech, Satisloh, Gerber Coburn, DAC, Comes and also VCA standard output. The software has the ability to be integrated with VCA compliant Lab Management Systems. Different designs are available to suit a wide variety of frame sizes and patients needs. The corridor lengths are measured from fit point to the centre of the reading reference circle i.e. to % of full add power, unlike some of our competitors. The Crossbows freeform software is simple to use and can be run in two different modes. It can act as a standalone program which can provide a simple interface for entering freeform prescriptions and will produce output files for the machines mentioned above. It can also be run as a server program and this can be integrated with a suitable Laboratory Management System to function automatically. The software is compliant with latest VCA freeform standards. 2

Smooth Optics Smooth Optics introduces a new generation of sophisticated lens designs providing exacting standards of vision for the discerning progressive lens wearer. It is a radical approach which reverses the normal design process and has allowed the lens design to be created from the outset with a very smooth mean power profile. Provides premium progressive lens design with superior comfort Allows for natural eye movement Provides sharp viewing in any direction Minimizes blurring or swim effect experienced with traditional progressive designs Results in faster patient adaptation times and greater patient satisfaction without Smooth Optics with Smooth Optics 3 1 - - -1-3 1 - - -1 - - -3-3 - - -1 - - 1 3 - -3-3 - - -1 - - 1 3 Mean Power Maps 4

EyeView Ophthalmic lenses have oblique power errors which are present when viewing away from the optical centre of the lens. EyeView technology uses specially developed software which incorporates the results of raytracing over the entire lens to correct for these errors. Standard values of back vertex distance and pantoscopic tilt are used in these complex calculations. More consistent optical performance over the range of prescription powers Wider viewing areas for hyperopes (plus prescriptions) Improved distance area for myopes (minus prescriptions) Improved image quality in principal viewing areas Surface analysis Raytrace of design without Eyeview Raytrace of design with Eyeview Cylinder Maps

Prescription compensation Prescription Compensation is an extension of the EyeView principles, were an individual s back vertex distance, pantoscopic tilt and face bow are used to adjust the sphere, cylinder and axis of the prescription to give the best as worn condition possible. This involves using a complex model of how the eye looks through the lens. 6

Edge Blending Edge Blending allows an improvement in the cosmetic appearance of higher powered minus lenses by flattening their outer edges and making them lighter and thinner. Central circular aperture unchanged Edge thickness benefit Variable aperture diameter Two levels of blending: Level 1 - Moderate, Level 2 - High without edge blending with edge blending 7

Other features Can use circular or elliptical crib shapes to reduce lens thickness Allows variable decentration to further reduce thickness blank size without decentration blank size with decentration 8

Special curve control in reading area resulting in flatter lenses without special curve control Prescription: +. / 3. addition with special curve control Allows blocked prism, surface prism or a combination of both Controls minimum thickness for rimless frames Variable inset depending upon the Near distance, Lens Power, BVD and MPD 9

Custom 14/16/18 The Custom 14 progressive is designed specifically for frames with small eye sizes. This is achieved in a soft design without compromising the distance, corridor and reading areas. The Custom 16 successfully combines a soft design with wide distance, intermediate and reading areas. This design also benefits from having low rates of change of mean power yet maintains good dynamic vision throughout. The Custom 18 design with its low rates of change and levels of astigmatism provides good dynamic vision combined with generous intermediate and reading areas. Maximum astigmatism is located on the nasal side where most of it will be edged away. Custom Office The Custom Office design is a lens designed primarily for use in an office-type environment. It is not a traditional progressive design, but rather is an alternative to a reading lens, providing clear vision for reading and intermediate viewing. The wide range of dynamic powers allows the ideal choice to be made for all reading additions up to 3.D and also allows the user to benefit from fully corrected reading and intermediate vision and maximised distance vision. The design reduces eye and neck strain associated with long term use of computers. A superior design of office progressive lens Low distortion, soft design 8 Dynamic powers available Designs in 1.498, 1.3, 1.6, 1.86, 1.6, 1.67 and 1.74 indices Dimensions Cylinder Map Power Map 3 1 3 1 - - -1 - - -3-3 - - -1 - - 1 3 - - -1 - - -3-3 - - -1 - - 1 3 19

Custom Driver The Custom Driver has been designed with the specific vision requirements of driving in mind. Clear distance vision is the absolute priority with improved middle distance vision compared to other progressive designs for reading the dashboard and seeing in mirrors. Wide clear distance area Wide clear corridor Low unwanted astigmatism Individual designs for left and right eyes Available in 1.498, 1.3, 1.6, 1.86, 1.6, 1.67 and 1.74 indices Dimensions Cylinder Map Power Map 3 1 3 1 - - -1 - - -3-3 - - -1 - - 1 3 - - -1 - - -3-3 - - -1 - - 1 3

Custom Relax The Custom Relax design is a progressive design for people who are not presbyopic. It avoids the patients eyes becoming tired and strained if they spend a large portion of the day focusing at the same distance, e.g. using a computer. It is available in two forms; Custom Relax I has an addition of.66d, Custom Relax II has an addition of 1.D. Very soft design with very low distortion Distortion free distance area and corridor Individual designs for left and right eyes 14mm corridor length to full addition power Available in 1.498, 1.3, 1.6, 1.86, 1.6, 1.67 and 1.74 indices Dimensions Cylinder Map Power Map 21 3 1 - - -1 - - -3-3 - - -1 - - 1 3 3 1 - - -1 - - -3-3 - - -1 - - 1 3

Custom Junior The Custom Junior progressive is designed specifically to help reduce the onset of myopia in young people between the ages of 8 and 16 years. The design offers a large stable reading area combined with excellent peripheral clarity in the distance zone. Short Corridor (13mm to full addition power) Minimum fitting height of 14mm Individual designs for left and right eyes Available in 1.498, 1.3, 1.6, 1.86, 1.6, 1.67 and 1.74 indices Dimensions 3 Cylinder Map 3 Power Map 1 - - -1 - - 2.19 2.3 1 - - -1 - - -3-3 - - -1 - - 1 3-3 -3 - - -1 - - 1 3 22

Custom Blended Bifocal The Custom Blended Bifocal design is a bifocal but without the obvious line around the reading segment. The power changes from the distance prescription to the reading prescription over a small region which makes the bifocal segment almost invisible. This results in exceptionally wide and large distance and reading areas compared to progressive lenses. Choice of segment diameter Choice of segment position Choice of blended region width Addition powers from 1. to 3. dioptres Prescription is incorporated into bifocal surface Available in 1.498, 1.3, 1.6, 1.86, 1.6, 1.67 and 1.74 indices Dimensions Blended region width Segment vertical position Segment diameter Inset Power Map 23
