The Children's Services Division is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Children's Social Services Worker III/IV/V positions through- out Riverside County. Children's Social Services Worker III $44,215.60 - $60,735.38 Annually Children's Social Services Worker IV $45,612.53 - $62,708.26 Annually Children's Social Services Worker V $48,107.07 - $66,115.71 Annually Children's Social Services Workers perform challenging assignments involving individual treatment and specialized application of casework methods and skills. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES Children's Social Services Worker III Carries a case load of the more difficult types of social service cases requiring a high degree of technical competence where social or family problems, or environmental forces adversely affect family life; assesses client's problems and develops treatment plans. Performs treatment plan casework with a high degree of independence. May act in a lead capacity for a small group of Social Service Workers or services employees, such as aides and volunteers. Prepares and maintains case records; writes court and other types of reports and answers correspondence. Takes part in staff development programs to increase knowledge of the social work processes and augment personal technical competence. Frequently conducts field visits, away from the home office, in order to carry out service plans, observe and assess client needs, and provide information and social work services. Assesses client family environment in order to determine potential or imminent risk to the safety of children residing in the household; when safety needs dictate, removes child from home and transports them, complying with all safety regulations, including the use of age appropriate California safety mandated equipment, when assisting with initial removal or facilitating a placement change. Maintains up-to-date electronic records of all aspects of client case management in a centralized database. Children's Social Services Worker IV Makes case studies for the purpose of assessing problems and determining appropriate types and methods of treatment; develops intensive long or short-term treatment plans to improve or restore individual or family functioning. Acts as a casework consultant to staff members without professional training. Functions at a highly skilled level in such areas as counseling, protective services, medical social work, family services, community organization, and adoptive services. May provide therapeutic marital, family interrelationship, and adoptive parent counseling. Investigates and provides services to clients where their physical or emotional welfare is involved; works with cases involving neglect, abuse, emotional or behavioral problems, physical/mental disabilities or other health conditions affecting a client's personality, family relationships, child or in-home care arrangements.

RECRUITING GUIDELINES Children's Social Services Worker III OPTION I Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized college. OPTION II Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from a recognized college in social welfare, social or behavioral sciences, social/human services, counseling or a closely related field Experience: Two years of case planning/case management experience in a social services agency performing duties equivalent to Riverside County's Social Services Worker II classification. OPTION III Education: Possession of a Master's degree from a recognized college in social or behavioral sciences, social welfare, social/human services, or a closely related field. Children's Social Services Worker IV OPTION I Education: Possession of a Master's of Social Work degree from a recognized school of social work. OPTION II Education: Possession of a Master's degree in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or Counseling from a recognized college which included 300 hours of field placement experience. OPTION III Education: Possession of Master's degree from a recognized college in social or behavioral sciences, social welfare, social/human services, or a closely related field Experience: One year of post Master's degree social case planning/case management experience (assessments and case plans for abuse and neglect cases) in a public or private agency in a class equivalent to Riverside County's Children's Social Services Worker III/IV or Social Services Worker III/IV. OPTION IV

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from a recognized college in social welfare, social or behavioral sciences, social/human services, counseling or a closely related field Experience: Three years of experience equivalent to Riverside County's Children's Social Services Worker III or Social Services Worker III classification in a Department of Public Social Services. The experience should include the following duties as a primary portion of the assignment: assessments, case planning/case management, and court reports. Children's Social Services Worker V OPTION I Education: Possession of a Master's of Social Work degree from a recognized school of social work Experience: One year of post master's degree social case planning/case management experience (assessments and case plans for abuse and neglect cases) in a public or private agency equivalent to Riverside Children's Social Service Worker IV or Social Services Worker IV; or two years experience in a Department of Public Social Services equivalent to Riverside County's Children's Social Services Worker III or Social Services Worker III. OPTION II Education: Possession of a Master's degree from a recognized college in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or Counseling from a recognized college which included 300 hours of field placement experience Experience: One year of post master's degree social case planning/case management experience (assessments and case plans for abuse and neglect cases) in a public or private agency equivalent to Children's Social Services Worker IV or Social Services Worker IV; or two years experience in a Department of Public Social Services equivalent to Riverside County's Children's Social Services Worker III or Social Services Worker III. OPTION III Education: Possession of Master's degree from a recognized college in social or behavioral sciences, social welfare, social/human services, or a closely related field Experience: Two years of post master's degree in social case planning/case management experience (assessments and case plans for abuse and neglect cases) in a public or private agency in a class equivalent to Riverside County's Children's Social Services Worker IV or Social Services Worker IV; or three years experience equivalent to a Riverside County's Children's Social Services Worker III or Social Services Worker III in a Department of Public Social Service. Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from a recognized college in social welfare, social or behavioral sciences, social/human services, counseling or a closely related field Experience: One year of experience equivalent to Riverside County's Children's Social Services Worker IV or Social Services Worker IV classification in a Department of Public Social Services.
