About your Customer DUNHAM EXPRESS Founded in Madison, Wisconsin as Dunham Mail Delivery in 1951, Dunham Express has grown from a one vehicle operation to the Midwest s largest privately held delivery company. Dunham Express utilizes eleven facilities throughout the region to cover Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan s Upper Peninsula and parts of Illinois and Iowa. Our continuous investments in technology have helped us become the service leader in our region. We are proud of our reputation and the integrity we show our customers every day. Our Mission is to profitably create solutions for our customer s transportation needs and to set new standards in our industry by using creative ideas from committed people. Available Services On Call - Computerized tracking and proof of delivery. Rush (one hour), two hour and four hour delivery. Rush deliveries throughout the state and same day service in selected areas. Scheduled - Daily U.S. Mail deliveries offer earlier delivery and later pickups to increase staff productivity. Daily bank deposits to help companies increase cash flow without interruption. Interoffice deliveries simplify daily correspondence between locations. Overnight - Overnight delivery services with flexibility. Coverage includes the entire state of Wisconsin and Michigan s Upper Peninsula. Most major markets are delivered by 10:30 am and all others by 2:00 pm. Multiple shipment discounts based on pieces not weight. Distribution - We will create systems to fit distribution needs: Fleet management for existing in-house systems; staff management to achieve an efficient delivery system; and warehousing services available for any delivery system.
Your Pick up and Delivery Business Opportunity DunX Delivery has exciting opportunities for motivated individuals in all seven of our locations across Wisconsin and our four locations in Minnesota. Contracting with Dunham Express will allow you to enjoy the freedom of setting your own schedules and choosing routes best suited to both professional and personal needs. Independent Contractors may contract a single route or up to five separate routes for their employees. Each route is as unique as the individual businesses that compete for them. Some routes are localized while others stretch across more than one state. Some have a few select stops while others may have 50! Contractors vehicles currently range from pickup truck to straight truck. The only common threads between any DunX routes are that DunX drivers proudly represent their customer and that they are at home every night. Requirements Dunham Express, your potential customer, requires that Independent Contractors maintain the high standards upon which their reputation has been built. In order to contract with Dunham Express, you must provide the following: A current driving abstract with no more than two moving violations and/or at-fault vehicle accidents within a 5 year period prior to submission of record. Moving violation point assessments cannot be more than 5 or higher within a 5 year period prior to submission of record. This means that no ticket can have been issued for speeding in excess of 20 mph over the posted limit. Evidence of a negative, five panel, urine drug screen. Valid Wisconsin driver s license. Exceptions: A Michigan license is accepted for the Niagara location; a Minnesota license is accepted for the La Crosse location; and a Minnesota license is required for Minnesota residents. A copy of a current credit report, no older than 30 days. This is required only if you will be financing a vehicle. Satisfactory background investigation results. A social security number must be provided in order to complete a background investigation. The social security number is used solely for the purpose of identification. Federal Employer Identification Number (an application form will be provided).
A white, DOT-certified vehicle suitable for the route being contracted. The vehicle must be no older than 7 years, free of body damage and/or rust, and without decals, advertising or affiliations. A friendly personality with excellent customer service skills. Each contractor must invest a minimum of one day s time on each route of interest for a pre-contract ride along. If the route will driven by a contractor s employee, the employee must ride along on a separate date. The Process The process of becoming an Independent Contractor servicing Dunham Express consists of four steps: 1. Pre-Contract Introduction Meeting Covers the requirements set forth by Dunham Express Presents the routes available for contracting Distribution and collection of preliminary information Miscellaneous authorizations 2. Pre-Contract Core 3. Negotiations Meeting with Dunham Express operations Discuss specific routes and scheduling ride-alongs Distribution of Pre-Contract Core paperwork Verification of credentials Directions for Dunham Express bidding process Independent Contractor proposal/initial bid in writing, on a per-day basis. Independent Contractor submits a business plan as outlined in Pre-Contract Core. Independent Contract submits Pre-Contract Core packet materials. Vehicle Compliance, Insurance Requirements, Contractor Compliance Summary and Master Lease Agreement are provided. Contractor will be notified within 48 working hours on the status of the bid and will have 48 hours to respond. Dunham Express may accept, decline, or counter. 4. Contract Closing Dunham Express will verify that all forms and requirements are in order. Visual Inspection of the Vehicle Review & Discuss terms and conditions of the contract. Disclosure to Independent Contractor Candidate Regarding Procurement of a Consumer Report In connection with your application for contracted services, we may procure a consumer report on you as part of the process of considering your candidacy as an Independent Contractor. In the event that information from the report is utilized in whole or in part in making an adverse decision with regard to your potential contracted status, before making the adverse decision, we will provide you with a copy of the consumer report and a description in writing of your rights under the law. Please be advised that we may also obtain an investigative report including information as to your character, general reputation, personal characteristics, and mode of living. This information may be obtained by contacting your previous employers or references supplied by you. Please be advised that you have the right to request, in writing, within a reasonable time, that we make a complete and accurate disclosure of the nature and scope of the information requested. Such disclosure will be made to you within 5 days of the date on which we receive the request from you or within 5 days of the time the report was first requested.
