USING THE SWITCH KIT It s as easy as 1-2-3 1. OPEN UP your new accounts Your first step is to open your new Greater Nevada share savings and checking account.* Once this account is open, we can start the process of closing your old checking account. 2. CLOSE DOWN your old accounts Be sure to leave your old checking account active long enough to allow outstanding checks and automatic withdrawals to clear. Leave enough money in the account to cover these transactions. This process may take several weeks. Once you re sure that the old accounts are inactive, you can ask your previous financial institution to send you the balance from that account. Then you can destroy your old checks, ATM/debit cards and deposit slips. 3. SWITCH OVER your automatic transactions The attached forms will help you contact the companies and financial institutions that. handle your automatic deposits and withdrawals. Simply complete the attached Greater Nevada Account Closure Request form and mail or fax it to your other financial institution. You can even request that the remaining balance on your account is sent to your new Greater Nevada Credit Union account. What about any outstanding checks that I have written on my current account? You will need to make sure all checks and automatic debits have cleared before completely closing your accounts. This can be done by balancing your account before you close it and by beginning to use your account at Greater Nevada immediately in order to allow all checks to clear and all automatic debits to be transferred.
