Faculty Leading Process Management Dr Jeff Heyl, Senior Lecturer, Lincoln University Jeff Heyl has a PhD from Arizona State University in Operations Management. Jeff researches and teaches in the areas of lean systems, quality measurement and management, manufacturing planning and control systems, and procurement systems and practices. He entered academia after many years of experience in automotive manufacturing and as a business consultant. Jeff has published in leading journals, serves on the Editorial Review Board for the Quality Management Journal, served as the Associate Editor of the OM Review, and has previously been an Evaluator for the NZ National Business Excellence Award. He is active in several professional and academic organisations including the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, American Society for Quality, Institute for Supply Management, NZ Organisation for Quality, and the Decision Sciences Institute. Operational Leadership Katharine McLennan, What is Leadership? Australia Katharine McLennan s career experience spans corporate strategy, execution and leadership. Her most recent corporate role was Head of the Global Leadership Academy for QBE, where she designed and led five levels of leadership development across QBE s 40 countries. Prior to that, Katharine was Executive General Manager, Talent and Business Unit HR for Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Katharine spent four years as the key architect and implementer of the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games operational strategy. She continues today to advise the IOC and all Organising Committees in their operational planning, workforce strategies and leadership development. Katharine has a Bachelor of Science with Honours (neuroscience and history) from Duke University, a Masters in Arts (political science) from the University of New South Wales and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Stanford University, graduating with top class honours in all three degrees. Katharine sits on the Advisory Board of the UTS Business School and is a Director of the MINDD Foundation. Katharine is also a qualified psychotherapist. Organisational Psychology Tom Matthews, Positive Leadership Coach, Mentor and Lecturer Tom Matthews specialises in the field of positive psychology. His background includes having completed Masters degrees in solution focused counselling, education and postgraduate business leadership. He has spent years studying and teaching in the field of leadership and positive psychology, specifically its application to individuals and organisations flourishing. Tom lectures on leadership at the University of Canterbury. As a lecturer, counsellor and facilitator, Tom focuses on practical, scientific interventions that enhance wellbeing, resilience and creativity. All of which ultimately open the pathways to achieving outstanding leadership.
