StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1 In-Place Upgrade Guide SQL Server Standard Edition Only

Document Overview Author Power Software, Schneider Electric Last Revised 10 th July 2012 Document Purpose Note(s) Provides guidance for performing an in-place upgrade from ION- Enterprise 6.0 SP1 to StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1 when upgrading to SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition. This guide does not apply when upgrading to a system that will use SQL Server 2008 Express Edition. Recommendations * * * * Ensure you have enough hard drive space available on your database server Have an external hard drive available for storing database upgrade backup files Plan an ION-Enterprise system downtime window Consider archiving data (with Trim) to reduce system downtime Overview An in-place upgrade upgrades the software on an existing ION-Enterprise server. An in-place upgrade is available for all installation types where the combination of operating system and SQL Server Edition is compatible with StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1. To confirm that you are eligible for an In-Place Upgrade on your current server, consult the upgrade flow chart in StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1: Determine Your Upgrade Type (RESL#207578). Standalone upgrade A Standalone Server hosts StruxureWare Power Monitoring configuration files, the services that are required for the system to function, Microsoft Reporting Services, and a connection to a SQL Server instance for the StruxureWare Power Monitoring databases. It can also aggregate data from all Secondary Servers (if they exist). Perform the software installation directly on the server. Remote installation is not recommended. Standalone upgrade considerations

Read StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1: Database Upgrade FAQ (RESL#206536) for more information on how much additional hard disk space is required and expected system downtime due to the software upgrade. If you have a compatible operating system but are using SQL Server 2005 Standard or Express Edition, an in-place upgrade path may be available. A manual upgrade to SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition is required. Consult the following documents: StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1: SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition Upgrade Guide (RESL#207632). StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1: SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Upgrade Guide (RESL#207643). Upgrading the Standalone server Start the installation process by inserting the StruxureWare Power Monitoring DVD into the DVD drive. If it does not open automatically, use Windows Explorer to navigate to the DVD drive and double-click setup.exe. Ensure that you log on to Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 as the Administrator of the system and not just as a user with administrator privileges. 1. Select the Application Language from the list and click Next. 2. Click Next on the Welcome page to proceed to the License Agreement page.

The Welcome page provides reminders for tasks to complete before continuing with the installation. 3. Read the End User License Agreement (EULA) on the License Agreement page. If you accept the terms of the license agreement, click I Agree to proceed to the Setup Type page. 4. Select Standalone Server and click Next.

5. Enter the user-related information and the license key for the product in the appropriate fields on the User Information page and click Next. 6. Use the Backup Location page to choose a location for the database backup files and click Next.

Recommendation: use an external drive to store the database backup files. This will significantly reduce the additional hard disk space required to complete the upgrade. 7. A system check is performed to verify that the mandatory prerequisites have been met. The results of the verification are shown on the Check System page. If a problem occurs during the system check, the item is identified and clicking on it displays additional information about the situation. 8. Click Next to proceed to the Ready to Configure page, which summarizes your selections for the configuration and installation of the software.

9. Click Install to proceed to the Prepare for Upgrade page. This step performs the ION database upgrades. Depending on your database size this may be a long duration operation. 10. The Copy Files page indicates the progress as files are copied to the server as part of the installation.

When the copying operation is complete, the Configure System page opens. 11. Click Next when the configuration process completes to open the Complete page. The Complete page contains links that open the Installation Log and start the Web Applications component, respectively.

12. Click Close to close the installer. After you click Close to close the Installer, an HTML page opens with instructions for completing your StruxureWare Power Monitoring system setup specifically about setting up your supervisor account to prevent unauthorized access to the system. Distributed Upgrade A distributed installation is comprised of a Database Server and a Primary Server. A Database Server in a distributed installation hosts a SQL Server instance and databases. A Primary Server in a distributed installation hosts configuration files and services that are required for the system to function. The Primary Server communicates with a separate Database Server to access databases.

Distributed upgrade considerations The Database Server must be upgraded before upgrading the Primary Server. Upgrading a Database Server A Database Server in a distributed installation hosts an edition of a SQL Server and your StruxureWare Power Monitoring databases. This network configuration requires that you install the Database Server on your network before installing the Primary Server for a distributed installation. Start the installation process by inserting the StruxureWare Power Monitoring DVD into the DVD drive. If it does not open automatically, use Windows Explorer to navigate to the DVD drive and double-click setup.exe. The steps for upgrading a Database Server are the same as those for Upgrading the Standalone server. The exceptions are the steps related to the following Installer pages: Setup Type page. Ensure that you log on to Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 as the Administrator of the system and not just as a user with administrator privileges. 1. Follow the same directions for the following Installer pages as those for installing a Standalone Application Language page. Welcome page. License Agreement page. 2. Select Database Server on the Setup Type page and click Next

3. Follow the same directions for the following Installer pages as those for installing a Standalone User Information page. Backup Location page. Check System page. 4. The Ready to Configure page differs from Standalone Server upgrade, reflecting the Database Server setup type. Click Install to proceed.

5. Follow the same directions for the following Installer pages as those for installing a Standalone Next Step Prepare for Upgrade page. Copy Files page. Configure System page. Complete page. You can now upgrade the StruxureWare Power Monitoring software on a Primary Server in the distributed configuration. Upgrading a Primary Server A Primary Server in a distributed installation hosts StruxureWare Power Monitoring configuration files and the services that are required for the system to function. The Primary Server communicates with a separate Database Server to access StruxureWare Power Monitoring databases. A Primary Server has to be upgraded after the Database Server has been upgraded. See Upgrading a Database Server. Start the installation process by inserting the StruxureWare Power Monitoring DVD into the DVD drive. If the Installer does not open automatically, use Windows Explorer to navigate to the DVD drive and double-click setup.exe. The steps for upgrading a Primary Server are the same as those for Upgrading the Standalone server. The exceptions are the steps related to the following Installer pages: Setup Type page. Follow the same directions for the following Installer pages as those for installing a Standalone Prepare for Upgrade page. Copy Files page. Configure System page. Complete page. IMPORTANT StruxureWare Power Monitoring 7.0.1 uses.net Remoting (a component of the Microsoft.NET framework) to exchange real-time data between the server and client machines. The server and client computers are identified by their full computer name the name of the machine with the domain appended (for example, MyComputerName.MyCompanyDomainName.com). Contact Technical Support if you encounter problems displaying real-time data on your client computers. Upgrading a Secondary Server Secondary Server installations are not common, and are used only in exceptional circumstances. For example, an intermediary Secondary Server may be required when you have a large number of devices that use software-based logging. Secondary Server installations require advanced network configuration. Ensure that you log on to Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 as the Administrator of the system and not just as a user with administrator privileges.

1. Follow the same directions for the following Installer pages as those for installing a Standalone Application Language page. Welcome page. License Agreement page. 2. Select Secondary Server on the Setup Type page and click Next. 3. Follow the same directions for the following Installer pages as those for installing a Standalone User Information page. Check System page. 4. The Ready to Configure page differs from Standalone Server upgrade, reflecting the Secondary Server setup type. Click Install to proceed.

7. Follow the same directions for the following Installer pages as those for installing a Standalone Prepare for Upgrade page. Copy Files page. Configure System page. Complete page. Using a Web Client A Web Client can be used by operators and others to access the Web Applications component of StruxureWare Power Monitoring on a day-to-day basis. Web Applications encompass Dashboards, Diagrams, Tables, Alarms, and Reports. The computer requires Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7.0.1, 8.0, or 9.0, and network connectivity to a StruxureWare Power Monitoring Standalone Server or Primary Server. Web Clients can use Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, or Windows Server 2008 operating systems for this purpose. To access Web Applications from a Web Client, enter an address in the following format in your browser. http://domain_name/web/ where domain_name is the fully-qualified name of the server hosting StruxureWare Power Monitoring. By default, the first application on the Navigation Bar in Web Applications opens in the browser. To specify which application should open first, add one of the following application query parameters to the Web address. Note that /?application is case-sensitive.

/?application=dashboards /?application=diagrams /?application=tables /?application=alarms /?application=reports Post-installation tasks Perform the following procedures after you install StruxureWare Power Monitoring. Check ION Enterprise Services Open the Windows Services dialog and ensure that all of the necessary ION Enterprise services are started. The services run under the Local System account, by default. You can change the Log On As attribute of a service by specifying the account and password. Use the Log On tab on the service properties dialog to do this. The Log On As account must have read/write permissions in the StruxureWare Power Monitoring network. See the ION Enterprise Services topic in the online StruxureWare Power Monitoring Help for more information. Create local user groups Create the following Microsoft Windows local user groups on the StruxureWare Power Monitoring primary server and grant access as follows: Group Name Access to..\ion Enterprise\system 1 Access to..\ion Enterprise\Config 1 ION Enterprise_Administrators Full Control Full Control ION Enterprise_Users Read Change 1 This is the path under Program Files\Schneider Electric (assuming default installation path) Note: the LocalSystem account must belong to the ION Enterprise Administrators group; the LocalSystem account requires read/write access to the system and config directories in order to run the ION Enterprise services. Review Database Manager Database Manager has preconfigured schedules for performing archives (disabled by default), backups, and trims on your ION Enterprise databases. Review these schedules and make any modifications that you require. You can also configure alarming to notify you when you are reaching your database or hard disk space limits. Refer to the Database Manager section in the online StruxureWare Power Monitoring Help for more information.

Security Considerations This section outlines specific security considerations after the StruxureWare Power Monitoring installation. Default passwords for SQL Server The default user identification and password for some of the database accounts need to be preserved for the proper operation of ION Enterprise. Contact Technical Support for details before you attempt to modify user IDs and passwords. NTFS and Share permissions on the ION Enterprise directory All share permissions are automatically set to Read permissions for the Everyone group; this includes the StruxureWare Power Monitoring share (ION-Ent). Change the ION-Ent share permission to Read/Write for users of Engineering Clients computers who need to modify files, such as Vista diagrams. StruxureWare Power Monitoring software security A user account with an access level of Supervisor is created by default when StruxureWare Power Monitoring is first installed. The account name is supervisor and the default password is 0 (zero). This account has the highest level with unrestricted access. The administrator for the StruxureWare Power Monitoring system can use User Manager to change the password for the supervisor account before deploying the StruxureWare Power Monitoring system to users. Refer to the User Manager section under Management Console Tools in StruxureWare Power Monitoring Help for more information. Run the ION Power Quality Aggregation Service In order to generate Power Quality reports in the Reports application on power quality data collected prior to the upgrade, you need to manually run the ION Power Quality Aggregation Service on the preexisting data. For instructions on running this service manually, see Running the ION Power Quality Aggregation Service Manually topic in the Reports section of the Web Applications online help. Restrict Diagrams/ION virtual root access If you do not want users to be able to access the Diagrams application without authentication, you can restrict access to the /ION virtual root to the primary server only. For more information, contact Technical Support.
