Symposium on: ADVANCES ON INFANTILE COLIC Turin (Italy), October 4-5, 2013 Organized by DIPARTIMENTO DI SCIENZE DELLA SANITA PUBBLICA E PEDIATRICHE UNIVERSITÀ DI TORINO Promoted by Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano Via Accademia delle Scienze 5

============================================================ Infantile colic represents one of the main disturb of infancy, and it s associated with discomfort of parents and considerable distress for pediatrician. Despite 40 years of research, its pathogenesis is incompletely understood and treatment remains an open issue. The disturb may be related to feeding disorders, dismotility, hormone alterations or behavioural factors. Recently, data supporting the concept of an aberrant gut microbiota in infants suffering from colic have been presented, suggesting its influence on gut motor function and gas production and emphasizing the possible inflammatory origin of the condition. These new findings opened new perspectives in the management of infantile colic. The aim of the Symposium is to provide a critical revision of some still unresolved problems related to infantile colic. International and national experts will participate to the Congress and will discuss the identification of approaches for the treatments and prevention of negative outcomes. Presidents of the Meeting Francesco Savino and Luca Cordero di Montezemolo ============================================================
