Paralegal Short Courses Short Courses Certificate (continued) Short Course Certificates act as building blocks for expanding your knowledge and your employment prospects, one step at a time. The Paralegal Short Course Certificates are DCC Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programmes that are approved by the DCC Academic Board.* Grade 12 (Std. 10) or equivalent or relevant work experience (2 years). You should be able to complete each short course within 12 months. On successful completion of each short course, you will receive your relevant Paralegal Short Course Certificate. Debt Collecting Short Course Certificate This course focuses on the process of collecting debt. It touches on a wide range of legal subjects such as security, sureties and contracts. The traditional documents for collecting debt are also explored, ranging from a letter of demand, and summons to court judgments. Introduction to South African Law Short Course Certificate This course introduces you to the basic concepts of law, its role in society and types of laws governing the South African Society. It focuses on the legal systems and constitution put in place to regulate the law and exposes the learner to the concepts of public law, private law, international law and other spheres and sources of law. Business Law Short Course Certificate This course will provide an overview of the laws pertinent to contracts, for example formation of contracts, communication and acceptance of offers, contractual provisions, capacity, lawfulness, sale, lease, employment and termination of contracts. For the examinable subjects your assignments are optional, but you have to write and pass 8 formal exams, and complete and pass 1 practical exam. Please note that exams are written in June and October of each year.
