College of Arts and Sciences CAS.IllinoisState.edu Communication Communication.IllinoisState.edu Last year the School of Communication launched the state-of-the-art Social Media Analytics Command Center (SMACC). The SMACC is a facility dedicated to studying social media analytics and strategy. Students, faculty, and researchers use the SMACC to identify public conversation from major social media platforms, popular discussion forums, and major blogs. Using specialized software, they can then analyze these conversations for key data such as top influencers, trending keywords and concepts, audience metrics, geographic location of posts, user sentiment, and how the share of voice works in the social web. The SMACC allows students in all communication majors to develop this key skill set that will make them more marketable upon graduation. Communication Sciences and Disorders CSD.IllinoisState.edu Speech pathology and audiology are no longer offered as separate majors. There is only one major at the undergraduate level communication sciences and disorders. It will encompass both fields of speech language pathology and audiology.
