Here s how you can use bandwidth utilization report to pinpoint the source of the decreased available bandwidth on some workstations connected to particular switch. 1. In the Network Atlas tree go to the map where all your switches are. If you don t have such a view already, please create one in the custom views section. Right click on the map and select Reporting -> Add Report 2. In the newly opened window (see below) enter the report name and choose an SNMP option. Click Next. 3
3. In the next window you can customize your report by adding or removing a column to your report (see below). 4
4. Click on Add icon and choose Add counter -> SNMP Performance Counters (Predefined counters) that will help us monitor bandwidth utilization on this switch: 5
5. For monitoring bandwidth utilization you need to select the counter in the Performance object field that is monitoring the switch s interface as shown below: 6
6. Consequently, select %FD Bandwidth Utilization counter and _Average instance from instances list as shown below and click on Add button. You need to click Close to confirm your selection. 7
7. Here you can see that the counter you have just selected has been added to the column list in your bandwidth utilization report. Click on Next 8
8. We recommend you adding this report to the monitoring policy of the selected map (here it is Switches custom view map). Click on OK to confirm. From now on the newly selected counter values will be collected. Do you want to schedule the bandwidth utilization report to be generated periodically? Follow these 3 steps: 9
In the Network Alas tree right-click on the Switches Custom Views map and choose Reporting -> Edit Map Data Collection Policy. In the newly opened window please double-click on the previously added report 10
Then you will see a new window where you can schedule when the report will be generated. Select the preferred option and click OK. Click OK again to close the Map Monitoring Policy Switches window The bandwidth utilization reports from this switch will help you verify bandwidth utilization in the particular period of time (e.g. during one week or one month). The information let you decide for example if you have to extend your bandwidth or increase the speed of your links. 11
