It supports Casemix development to improve quality and efficiency of healthcare. Vision: The Nordic Casemix work is up to date and built on common Nordic goals and the Nordic area collaborates actively in the work. The systems are transparent and used by all countries. It supports healthcare benchmarking and analyses, promotes knowledge and understanding about content and use of Nordic Casemix systems. Values of Nordic Casemix Centre: Open availability of all material including definition tables of NordDRG Openness, trust and mutual respect between all the participants High quality and effectiveness of the work 14.5.2014 Nordic Casemix Centre 3
Changing environment Casemix systems have to: Be able to analysis and research use of Casemix Rapid action to satisfy user needs (owners) Be aware of the changes on national level, organization, reimbursement needs and health care systems To be able to work for these strategic goals the Casemix work must have Sufficient, accomplished and motivated attitude in the cooperation Controlled and stable finances Modern and adequate technology Good management Confidence of stakeholders 14.5.2014 Nordic Casemix Centre 4
Strategic statements 2014-2018 Nordic Casemix association promotes of knowledge, understanding and feasibility on Casemix. The Association works in close collaboration with decision makers, health care experts and other stakeholders by ensuring that the system is broadly used and well known in participating countries. Nordic Casemix co-operation has no active goals to expand NordDRG system to new countries. Grouper development maintenance process is developed continuously to assure deliveries of good quality. With continuous development of working process with modern tools this is possible without major increase in resource use. Nordic Casemix development has strong relation to primary classifications and their development. It follows the latest international and Nordic work on health care classifications and participates in classification development actively The NordDRG definition tables and the NordDRG Manual are public to allow different software producers to develop competing grouper programs 14.5.2014 Nordic Casemix Centre 5
Strategy: With continuous development of working process with modern tools, Grouper development maintenance process works without major increase in resource use. Management of grouping process and definition tables works with modern tools NordDRG Forum based on ticketing system and version control are essential A steered maintenance process is a key to assure delivery in time and the sufficient quality of the end product Tasks: NordDRG updating and maintenance processes and principles has yearly evaluation and improvement NordDRG Update Process Timetable is in active use and process is in time every year Ticketing system and version control is adapted and in use to improve efficiency, productivity and quality Development project started 2013 and it continues 2014. 14.5.2014 Nordic Casemix Centre 6

NordDRG Maintenance System - See I m still smiling after all these years project 2013-2015 14.5.2014 Nordic Casemix Centre 16
NDMS (NordDRG Maintenance System) project Project started 2013 and continues Testing period 2014-2015 Partner SSI (Statens Serum Institute, Denmark) that has developed the Vags system to maintain the DRG definition tables Done by Rehfeld partners A/S 14.5.2014 Nordic Casemix Centre 17
NDMS project s goals Be able to replace the existing FoxPro based NDMS tool with the VAGS based tool. No more support for the old software. Approach has been tested during 2014-2015 and after this testing period it is decided if the old FoxPro system can be replaced with the new one Produce and publish the NordDRG manuals for all national versions using VAGS by end of the year 2014 Result of the project is, that the table maintenance process becomes more effective and transparent and the manuals can be produced automatically 14.5.2014 Nordic Casemix Centre 18
Version Controll- Why? 14.5.2014 Nordic Casemix Centre 19
Version controll (Wikipedia) is the management of changes to documents, programs, and other information stored as computer files. It is most commonly used in software development, where a team of people may be changing the same files. 14.5.2014 Nordic Casemix Centre 20
Version Control development goals Check that all decided changes are done Link to the Forum cases Used in co-operation between Nordic Casemix Center, national organisations and suppliers Check that no other changes occur Promote knowledge that all the 8 different grouper versions are in the control and process Version control is linked to Forum case-system and to NDMS- This is a reason, why this project is dependent of these 2 previously presented projects 14.5.2014 Nordic Casemix Centre 21
Git version control software have been preliminary tested in Nordic Casemix Essentially a version control system (or a revision control system) is software that has the ability to manage and track changes that occur to any document that is in a given project.. Center 2013-2014 14.5.2014 Nordic Casemix Centre 22
Why version controll is important for us? Groupers are produced to; Common version (maintenance), Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Finland (owners), Estonia and Latvia (supporting partners) Each year 16 versions of groupers are produced. This is the reason why version control between groupers and changes is so important Each country have their own DRG grouper each year because National basic classifications (ICD, Interventions) National versions are linked together and linked codes have identical properties Logic (DRG rules) may vary between the countries Common changes and national changes 14.5.2014 Nordic Casemix Centre 23
9. Production versions (8) of the groupers ready and tested 8. Tecnical definitions and descriptions 10.Certification and manuals 7. Expert group Decision making Testing approval 6. Changes of primary codes; Their cause for the grouper changes Year clock DRG Groupers for 2015 5. Testing, changes, acceptance by national bodies 1.Proposals for changes major/minor 2. Discussion Expert group Decision making 3. Tecnical definitions and descriptions 4. Planning versions of the groupers (8)ready 14.5.2014 Nordic Casemix Centre 24
