Overview Overview of REGENT Business School Regent Business School 2013 Prospectus REGENT Business School (RBS) is a Private Higher Education Institution registered in terms of the Higher Education Act (101 of 1997).It was established in 1998 as a postapartheid empowerment institution offering affordable and accessible business and management education programmes. These programmes cover the areas of business administration, commerce, management and leadership, entrepreneurship, local government, educational management and range from Higher Certificates to Postgraduate Degrees. In keeping with its mission, RBS s students are drawn from many vocational backgrounds from South Africa and other SADC countries. What support does REGENT Business School Provide? Study Packs are issued to all students and include study materials consisting of a comprehensive guide for each module, a course and assignment handbook, general guidelines to the writing and presentation of assignments and other supporting material. Workshops are held on weekends for distance learning students and daily lectures are held for full time learning students. The workshops use a number of practical exercises to introduce the principles of action learning, a method that Regent Business School uses to facilitate understanding and aid in the retention of knowledge. Workshops provide the ideal forum for students to clarify areas of difficulty identified in their self-study programme. Workshops are held over weekends to cater for the needs of students who are in full time employment and attendance is voluntary. Lectures for full time programmes are compulsory. Academic support is provided during the course of students studies through full time and part time academic faculty, available via telephone, email and the RBS web site. Library Services include RBS agreements with various libraries to give students access to the latest material in their field of study. RBS has a fully fledged reference library at its main campus, Durban. This includes a large selection of textbooks that cover a wide range of management fields as well as a selection of journals and MBA dissertations. The Johannesburg campus library also holds an extensive selection of material that students may access. Our Web Site provides constant guidance to the student from registration to graduation. RBS students are also invited to discuss study matters with other students both nationally and internationally, via discussion threads on the web site. Examination Venues: Examinations may be written in Durban, Johannesburg, Cape Town, East London, Polokwane, Nelspruit, Windhoek (Namibia), Lusaka (Zambia), Harare (Zimbabwe) and Matsapha (Swaziland).
