School Age Assistant Assistant Teacher PROGRAMS OF STUDY Child Development courses prepare students f employment as an aide, teacher, / direct in a preschool a child care center (including infant/toddler facilities), family child care providers, other Child Development careers in early childhood education fields. Courses are also appropriate f parents, nannies, recreation leaders, camp counsels, elementary school teaching assistants (some classes may be used as a foundation f elementary school teachers), social services health care practitioners, early childhood administrats, others wking with young children. Community Care Licensing State Regulations require students who wk with young children to have a minimum of 12 unit in Child Development. CHDV 100 115 are required ce courses. Students can choose two other curriculum 3 unit CHDV courses to complete the 12 units. Suggested courses are CHDV 105, 125, 130, 135, 140, 185. Certificates meet the course requirements f teachers, site superviss, directs of private child care programs licensed by the Califnia State Department of Social Services (Title 22), Community Care Licensing. The program also meets the course requirements f the Child Development Permit issued by the Califnia Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Child Development programs that are state funded federally funded (Title 5 programs such as, Head Start, state preschool, etc.) follow the Child Development Permit matrix. In addition to the course wk listed in the certificate, students must have experience wking with young children in der to obtain an actual Child Development Permit from the State of Califnia. Emphasis is on developing al, listening, reading writing skills in der to acquire proficiency in Chinese.
