Johnson County Community College Transfer Program to the University of Kansas College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of General Studies 2015-2016 Catalog Contact: University Advising Phone: 785-864-3500 E-Mail: advising@ku.edu Home Page: http://www.collegesas. ku.edu/advising/handbook/requirements/gened.shtml The Associate of Arts degree (A.A.) at JCCC is a general transfer degree and partners well with the first two years of most bachelor degree programs. Students pursuing the A.A. may select courses that satisfy both the A.A. degree requirements and lower division requirements for a bachelor s degree at four-year institutions. The 33 hours of electives within the A.A. allows students to complete additional general education and lower division courses required for specific majors. The A.A. degree requires completion of 64 credit hours, the maximum number of hours from a community college that will be applied toward a bachelor s degree at most four-year schools. Meeting with a JCCC counselor is strongly recommended for selection of appropriate courses. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences: KU s largest academic unit with 53 departments and programs. The minimum number of hours for a BA/BGS is 120. Pass/Fail Policy: Allowed for courses not in the major or minor. Not allowed for courses listed in the KU catalog under requirements for the Major: for each specific major. Students should be aware that some scholarship committees and honorary societies do not accept this grading system and convert grades of No Credit to F when computing grade point averages. Transfer Grades of D : Not accepted toward any degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. NOTE: Classes may count for a major requirement and a core requirement but may NOT count for 2 different core requirements. It is the STUDENT S RESPONSIBILITY to check for updates to all transfer information. This transfer program is provided as a service and is updated annually. Degree requirements at the four-year colleges are subject to change by those institutions. Updated 6/15

KU Core requirements (each goal must be met) Units must be 3 semester hours Additional courses that satisfy the KU Core are continuously updated and available at http://kucore.ku.edu/courses.
