Foundation Degree of PROSPECTUS Our Vision The Gospel has not changed but the world in which we live has... and especially over the past 30 years. As a result, the way in which we communicate this good news needs to change and adapt. The Light Project exists to communicate and demonstrate that good news in ways that make sense to people today in the 21st century. We do this by pioneering new mission and evangelism projects and by training people both nationally and locally.

FdA in Theology & Evangelism This course equips the 21st century Christian to identify spirituality in modern society and demonstrate the Christian message effectively in relevant terms. The Light Project is an offi cial partner of the University of Chester and delivers a 2 year fulltime, or 3 year part-time Arts (FdA) in Theology and Evangelism. The FdA is a unique course - academically challenging and faith affi rming. It combines university lectures with hands-on mission experience giving students the knowledge and skills necessary for church jobs, ministerial careers, community work or further academic study at Bachelor or Master s level. The course covers four key study areas: Theology understanding our faith and what we believe Communication & Culture faith in context Biblical Studies foundations for evangelism Refl ective Practice learning from experience. All students will have a placement with local churches or ministries This is a highly practical course for those who want hands-on learning as well as lectures. 2nd year student Module Titles Level 4 Historical Approaches to Evangelism An Introduction to Biblical Studies Using the Gospel of John in Evangelism Christianity, Culture and Communication Community Engagement and Refl ective Practice 1 & 2 Level 5 Approaches to Christian Theology Using Pauline Studies in Evangelism Community Engagement and Refl ective Practice 3 Theology and Ethics in Mission and Evangelism Creative Arts and Media in Mission and Evangelism Evangelism and Contemporary Culture I like to study; if I had less study and all practical I don t think I would have grown as much. But the teaching at the Light Project sets me up for my practical work. 1st year student

How Does it Work? All sessions are delivered by University approved tutors, passionate about their faith and their specialised subject. Full-time students are based in Chester and join the weekly life of The Light Project community taking part in worship, projects, training sessions, fi eld trips, church placements and outreach activities. Part-time students, from across the UK, join the academic lectures over several weekends throughout the year, enabling them to stay in their home town and access the course from a distance. The course is delivered through weekly online learning tasks and home study, a placement and Learning Weekends. Lectures are delivered in Chester with access to the University of Chester campus. All coursework is assessed through written work, presentations and refl ection on placement experience which counts towards the grade. A very special place where God is at work. Jess, 2nd year Students at The Light Project are also students at The University of Chester, a vibrant place with great learning facilities and an excellent range of clubs and societies including a thriving Christian Union. As a part-time distance learner, the course provides me with the perfect combination of weekly online learning sessions punctuated with learning weekends. The weekends are an amazing time for prayer, worship, lectures and opportunities to practice what we are learning; but as important is the chance to spend time with my colleagues and to hear how God is working in their lives. Nicky - 1st year student

Placements A Student s placement forms an integral part of the assessment, through one of the modules. I see myself changing and developing week-to-week. I do things from the sessions straight into my placement. Danny, 2nd year student What have students gone on to do? On successful completion of the course, students gain direct access to a third year for a BA in Theology at University of Chester, if desired. Charlie continued on to graduate in Theology & Music and works for Youth for Christ Nick works with Chester Schools Christian Work Jon - Studied in Cambridge and is now a Pioneer minister in The Church of England Ben is employed by Saltmine Theatre Company Lucy completed an internship with Share Jesus International Jamie working with the homeless at a shelter provision James works for Big Ministries, inspiring children to worship God
