Professor Torbjörn Falkmer The Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic employed Torbjörn Falkmer as Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Disability Sciences since 2004, and for this reason, a number of transport related publications in addition to transportation related research fields has been allocated to the Department of Neuroscience and Locomotion, IKE Faculty of Health Sciences, Linköping University, Sweden. In 2006, the School of Health Sciences at Jönköping University offered Torbjörn Falkmer a position as Professor in Occupational Therapy, which he is currently holding in addition to part time work at the Linköping University. Since 2007, Falkmer is appointed as adjunct professor at La Trobe University in Melbourne. Born 1958 Qualification Doctoral degree (PhD) in medicine at Linköping Medical Faculty, Faculty of Health Sciences Linköping University, Sweden. Thesis title: Transport Mobility for Children and Adolescents with Cerebral Palsy (2001). Background BSc. Occupational therapy, 1984, MSc. Teacher in health care science 1992, Head of the Paediatric clinic in Halmstad 1995, Researcher at VTI 1 1996, Senior Researcher at VTI 2001, Senior lecturer at Faculty of Health Sciences, Linköping University 2003. Research Research concerning transport mobility of children and adults with disabilities. Research focusing on driver education and driver assessment for young novice drivers, drivers with disabilities and older drivers. Applied research on drivers eye movements. Applied research concerning design and evaluation of driver support systems (ITS). Applied research concerning professional drivers work load and work place design. Participation in European cooperation projects Evaluation manager of TRAINER Participation in: AGILE HORIZON/ODIGO CONSENSUS II IDEA HUMANIST Publications In total, more than 100 research publications Other activities: Currently supervising 8 PhD students in Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences and Faculty of Technology, >20 MSc and BSc theses in OT, PT, Didactics, Psychology, and Medical engineering. Formerly supervisor of MD/PhD Pontus Albertsson and Dr. of Technology/PhD Tania Dukic. Guest lecturer and examiner at National and International Universities. Guest editor in Scandinavian Journal of Occupational Therapy. Reviewer for several scientific journals (e.g. SJOT, JRM, AAP, Pediatrics, etc.). Expert 1 The Swedish Road Transport Research Institute

reviewer for The Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning. The clinical research facilities At the clinic, modern research laboratory facilities are currently developing including advanced technology consisting of three different systems, a digital recording system, an eye tracker, and a motion capturing device. The motion capturing system is not yet integrated with the other two systems, but the eye tracker and the recording system are capable of doing parallel and synchronized measurements on the same subject. MobileMe recording system MobileMe is a digital real-time monitoring and recording system, capable of measuring up to five different variables. The system consists of five sensors, connected to a recording device, which is connected to a PC via a wireless network. The five properties are the following: ECG (electrocardiogram): the electrical activity of the heart. SCL (skin conductance level): autonomous activation of sweat glands BVP (blood volume pulse): variations of blood volume in for example a finger RR (respiration rate): relative expansion of the chest Skin temperature The sensors are connected to a garment, and the recording device is mounted in a belt, worn by the subject. The garment and the belt can be seen in the pictures above. ViewPoint eye tracker The eye tracker consists of a frame that holds cameras and sensors for registration of eye movements. The system, together with included software, is capable of detecting the position of gaze, pupil size, ocular torsion and fixation durations.

Measurand ShapeWrap II Finally, a motion capturing system, the Measurand ShapeWrap II 2 will be integrated with the other two systems in one year from now, adding the possibility to generate simultaneously collected data on movements, psycho-physiology and eye movements. All equipments are available for field trials, as well, since data can be stored and monitored remotely.
