Leadership Development In an effort to strengthen PTA work at all levels, the Florida PTA offers opportunities to train and develop qualified leaders. Send as many representatives as possible to the conferences and meetings. County Councils are available to help local PTAs answer questions, solve problems, provide leadership and organize new PTAs in their respective counties. Many county councils offer leadership training and workshops. Leadership Teams are available for County Councils and local PTAs to help with leadership technique, knowledge of PTA issues and problem solving. Leadership/Convention is held annually by Florida PTA. The statewide, three-day session provides leadership training for officers, committee chairs and interested members so they may perform more effectively in their PTA positions. Other benefits include enrichment classes and the opportunity to meet and share with PTAs from all around Florida. In addition, convention activities for the purposes of carrying out Florida PTA business is included. The FPTA Action Platform is determined by the delegate body. Each local PTA and each county council is entitled to voting delegates as explained in the FPTA bylaws, but any member can attend. Legislative Activities are held annually in Tallahassee to familiarize PTA members with the Legislative Process. County Council Presidents/Region Representatives Workshop is a program designated to train new county council presidents/region representatives, acquaint them with the functions of the state office and provide them an opportunity to discuss ways in which to coordinate the work of the FPTA with state officers and committee chairs. www.floridapta.org - 2014/2015, Section 7, Page 6
