Emergency Medical Services (A. A. S. Degree Program) Emergency Medical Services involves planning, organizing, coordinating and supervising a medical emergency service program. Graduates coordinate the activities of persons involved in the rescue, transportation, and care of accident or catastrophe victims, and others requiring emergency medical assistance. They manage administrative requirements such as staffing, maintaining records of facilities and personnel and periodically inspecting facilities. They develop, plan and participate in training programs for ambulance and rescue personnel. MISSION The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for those involved in emergency are to become skilled in carrying out emergency measures to save lives and reduce injury. Handling business and administrative affairs Overseeing and carrying out policies and procedures Maintaining and developing budgets Supervising managers and conducting community outreach and educational activities Graduates from the Emergency Medical Services program work for hospitals, private ambulance services, and municipal fire, police, or rescue squad departments.

Emergency Medical Services is a 73-credit program that leads to an Emergency Medical Services A.A.S. degree. Q: What is Available Beyond Graduation? Graduates are eligible to take the certification exam and begin working in basic emergency care. To maintain their certification, all EMTs and paramedics must complete continuing education hours. Refresher courses and continuing education are available for EMTs at all levels. Some students take EMT to assess their interest in health care and then decide to return to school and become paramedics, registered nurses, physicians, or other health workers.

Florida Residents: 42 credits @ $98.05, in-state ($4,118.10) for the Paramedic certificate; tuition only 73 credits @ $98.05, in-state ($7,157.65) for the EMS-AAS degree; tuition only Alabama Residents: 42 credits @ $99.05, in-state ($4,160.10) for the Paramedic certificate; tuition only 73 credits @ $99.05, in-state ($7,230.65) for the EMS-AAS degree; tuition only Out of state resident fee is $369.58/credit hour. Remember, the legislature has the right to raise tuition, and generally does so in July of each year.

FINANCIAL AID Students requiring financial assistance are directed to the Office of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs (OFA & VA) (850) 484-2349 for information on numerous grants, and scholarships available. Short-term loans are available at registration. Inquiries should be directed to the Student Affairs Office on the Warrington Campus. Students needing assistance for an education are encouraged to seek every avenue of financial aid available for that purpose.
