Every day our network of renowned physicians makes world-class healthcare accessible for communities throughout Southern California. Approximately 350, or half of all the students in the David Geffen School of Medicine at ucla, participate in community service along with hundreds of our faculty. In addition, our hospitals provide more than $50 million in charity and uncompensated medical care each year. Community Involvement Venice Family Clinic The Venice Family Clinic, the largest free clinic in the nation, provides more than 75,000 patient visits per year to more than 15,000 children and adults, delivering quality care to persons who would otherwise have no access to such care. Approximately 150 UCLA residents and faculty members in primary care fields provide more than 4,700 volunteer hours of care. Additionally, more than 200 medical students and undergraduate students volunteer their time. Our hospitals also donate radiology, laboratory, surgical, emergency and other clinical services. Sun Valley At the Sun Valley Community Health Center, UCLA Department of Family Medicine faculty provide expanded asthma screening for the children and families of this community, where more than 20 percent of the residents live below the federal poverty line.
