He was born in 947. When Stephen was two years old his father deserted the family. Stephen and his older brother were raised by their mother, sometimes with great financial difficulties. Stephen started writing at an early age. When in school, he wrote stories based on movies he had seen recently, and sold the stories to his friends. When his teachers discovered this, he had to return the money he had earned. When he was about eighteen, Stephen discovered a box of his father s old books.
