Programming the SIP Trunk Numbers The SIP account provided by the Eircom SIP Voice platform will usually have a range of trunk numbers associated with it. These numbers must be programmed into the Advantage System External Numbers List. Click on the External Numbers List. The SIP trunk numbers must be programmed here in the national number format eg 768910130. The use of this number format here is MANDATORY. Press Save. 9
Programming the Internet Gateway and DNS Addresses. The Advantage system is connected to the Internet via its LAN port, the customer premises LAN and internet gateway router. The Advantage system does not use DHCP to automatically obtain an IP address and Gateway address form the local LAN router. These are programmed manually on the page IP Addresses Enter the local LAN address of the gateway router here. You must also enter the local LAN address of the DNS server here. This is usually the same as the gateways address. These must be in the same subnet address range as the IP address of the Advantage system itself. 10
Programming the SIP Accounts on the Advantage System Once the SIP trunk License has been installed, a new section called IP Trunk Settings is displayed on the main system programming page. Click on SIP Accounts to program the SIP trunk registration information. There are 10 blank sip accounts by default. On the Advantage 4800/1500/1200 each SIP account is limited to 1 External SIP trunk telephone number per account. 11
A separate dummy account is used for registration purposes and this account has no telephone trunk number associated with it. This means that there is a maximum of 9 trunk SIP trunk telephone numbers possible on the system. Program the dummy registration account Select Account No 10 as the registration account and program it as shown below. It is MANDATORY to use the 10 th account as the registration dummy account. Enter the registration parameters which have been provisioned on the Eircom SIP Voice platform for the customer: Name: The Advantage system can associate a name with each sip account for ease of identification. Name this account Registration Account. Proxy Address: This is the URL or internet address of the Eircom SIP voice server. This is typically in the format: sipv-bt-pub.ngv.eircom.net Username: Enter the account username as provisioned on the Eircom SIP Voice platform. Password: Enter the account password as provisioned on the Eircom SIP Voice platform. External Number: Leave blank as this is a dummy registration account. 12
Proxy Port: Leave at default 5060. RegInterval: Reset to 60 seconds from the default value. DTMF Method: Leave at default RTP Event Enabled: Set to Yes. Press Save. Program the numbered SIP trunk Accounts Up to 9 active sip trunk accounts can be configured as shown below, giving a maximum of 9 external SIP trunk numbers. Program each of the SIP trunk numbers on a separate account, starting with SIP Account #1 as follows: Name: This is a name that the Advantage system associates with the account for ease of reference, typically Sip Trunk 768910130 Proxy Address: This is the URL or internet address of the Eircom SIP voice server. This is typically in the format: sipv-bt-pub.ngv.eircom.net Username: Here you must enter the number of the trunk in International format eg +353768910130. The use of the international format is MANDATORY here. Password: This is not checked and may be left blank. External Number: Here you must enter the external number n national format (eg) 768910130. The use of the national format here is MANDATORY here. 13

In summary, the username must be in the international number format +353768910130. The External Number must be in the national format 768910130. An arbitrary password is entered (it is not checked) and the RegInterval is set to 0. Opening the Ports on the Customer router to allow SIP Trunk traffic. In order to ensure the free flow of SIP voice traffic through the customer premises router, the router may implement a SIP ALG (Application Layer Gateway) to ensure SIP transit through the router s NAT. This SIP ALG this must be enabled on the customer s router. If this is not supported on the customer router, the SIP signaling and voice ports must be manually forwarded on the router to the internal IP address of the Advantage system. These port numbers should be checked on the Port Numbers page (under Router Settings). Typical values are: SIP Signaling Port (UDP): 5060 SIP Trunks RTP Voice ports (UDP): 50002 to 50021 14
Program the Incoming Ringing Assignments Go to the ringing assignments page and assign an extension to ring for each external number. Make a test call to this number to ensure that it rings. Program the Outgoing CLI The advantage system allows you to associate an outgoing CLI with each user. Go to the Outgoing CLI page and program the users CLIs. Make an outgoing call to check that the correct CLI is sent to the called party Use the Advantage System LCR to automatically make OFF Net calls. The eircom SIP Voice service is a private network service. In order to make break out to the public network it is necessary to precede the destination number with a leading 0 to break out of the private network. The advantage system Least Cost Routing function can be used to insert this leading zero on all outgoing calls if required. The LCR can only be programmed to do this after the sip trunks have been configured and enabled. Configure Call Diversion 4800/1500/1200: Call Diversion With Announcement MUST be configured for all internal extensions of the PBX. This is MANDATORY in order for call diversion to work properly on SIP trunks. Note on FAX FAX is not supported over SIP trunks on the 4800/1500/1200 Systems. 15
