THE CANADIAN PAYROLL ASSOCIATION HAS BEEN OFFERING THE PAYROLL COMPLIANCE PRACTITIONER (PCP) CERTIFICATION PROGRAM AT HUMBER FOR MORE THAN 15 YEARS. PCP students are attracted to the short path to certification, leading to a professional-level career. Our popular courses are almost always filled to capacity with bright, enthusiastic Humber students who are drawn to a career in payroll. STUDENT PROFILE PUBLIC RELATIONS CERTIFICATE ERICA THIS PROGRAM WAS A STEPPING STONE FOR ME TO CONTINUE MY EDUCATION AND EXPLORE THIS FIELD. After I graduated from the program I went on to become an accredited public relations professional, and I m now working on my master s degree in communications and journalism. One of my goals is to give back to students the way the faculty did for me. 10

FACULTY PROFILE HORTICULTURE/ LANDSCAPING/FLORAL DESIGN CHARLIE DOBBIN I FOUND THE 30-PLUS STUDENTS IN MY CLASS TO BE HIGHLY ENGAGED AT EVERY CLASS, DESPITE THEIR BUSY LIVES AND WORK OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM. Lively discussions, lots of sharing of information and great questions ruled each class. I know we all learned tons throughout the semester, and every student grew with confidence and selfesteem over the weeks. Many have continued their learning this summer with jobs in garden centres, parks departments and with professional landscape contractors. 12

STUDENT PROFILE ADVANCED PROJECT MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATE THANGARAJ AS AN EXPERIENCED INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONAL, I HAD BEEN MANAGING PEOPLE, PROCESSES, SYSTEMS AND PROJECTS IN BITS AND PIECES WITHOUT REALIZING THOSE ARE CHARACTERISTICS OF A PROJECT MANAGER. I wanted to improve my leadership and management skills, and Humber s online courses helped me balance my work-life-study schedule. I found the teaching staff was resourceful, with lots of industry experience. ONLINE LEARNING ONLINE LEARNING Completing a course online is an advantageous way of pursuing your education while balancing other life priorities. When taking an online course or program, students will have the opportunity to network with their peers, learning with and from each other while interacting with qualified faculty and industry experts. Using a variety of interactive and creative learning activities, students will participate in an engaging, flexible and compelling experience. If you re considering taking an online course, you ll need: Basic computer and Internet skills Regular computer access with a reliable Internet connection The ability to be self-disciplined about completing assignments, contributing to discussions and interacting with other online classmates. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO REGISTER FOR A CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE? For most courses, a student needs to be 19 or older or have a Grade 12 diploma. For many general interest courses, however, that qualification doesn t apply. WHAT ARE PREREQUISITES AND COREQUISITES? A prerequisite is required for entry to a specific course. For example, you may need to have completed an entry-level course before taking an intermediate one. A corequisite needs to be taken at the same time as another course. WHERE CAN I FIND MORE INFORMATION ABOUT MY ONLINE CLASSES? Visit our website at humber.ca/continuingeducation for questions specific to online courses. I HAVE CREDITS FROM ANOTHER INSTITUTION OR PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE. CAN I APPLY THOSE TO MY PROGRAM AT HUMBER? Students who have successfully completed postsecondary studies may apply for transfer credits from equivalent courses in their program. You will need to provide a transcript and a detailed course description. Transfer credit forms are available at humber.ca/continuingeducation. If you ve had previous work, volunteer or life experience that is relevant to your program, this may also count as credit towards your course or program. Learning may be assessed through submission of an academic portfolio and/or challenge processes such as tests, demonstrations or interviews. There is a fee charged for each course challenged.
