May 14, 2014 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SCHOOL TRUSTEES DECATUR COUNTY COMMUNITY SCHOOLS The Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the Board Office, 2020 N. Montgomery Road, Greensburg, Indiana 47240. Board President Matthew Hoeing called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. All members were present. Upon a motion made by Todd Mauer and a second by Tim Roscoe minutes of meetings held April 9, 2014 and May 13, 2014 were unanimously approved as mailed. Payment of claims and payroll were ordered on a motion made by Chris Owens, a second by Annette Geis and passed unanimously. On a motion by Annette Geis and a second by Todd Mauer, the following field trips were unanimously approved. Under New Business, Douglas Wilson, Esq., attorney for the school Corporation, presided over the meeting and stated that notice of this meeting with respect to hearing on the Lease Agreements had been published in the Greensburg Daily News and the Shelbyville News on April 11, 2014. Mr. Wilson further stated that notice of this meeting with respect to the hearing on the additional appropriation of funds was published in the Greensburg Daily News and Shelbyville News on May 2, 2014. Proofs of publication were presented to the meeting and upon examination were found to be in due form of law. Mr. Wilson further stated that the two separate and distinct proposed Lease Agreements, plans and estimates for the school building additions to be constructed by the Decatur County 2010 School Building Corporation had been on file from the date of publication of said notice until today, in the Administration Building of the School Corporation, 2020 N. Montgomery Road, Greensburg, Indiana. Mr. Wilson said that it was not necessary to review in detail all of the procedures to date since all of the members of the Board were thoroughly familiar with all steps heretofore taken, including the proposed Leases, plans and estimates just submitted, but that if any persons present, other than members of the Board had any questions concerning these documents or the previous actions of this Board, or other steps taken looking towards the construction of said school building additions, the Board would be glad to answer the same. The meeting was then open for questions and for the hearing of all persons interested. There were no questions or comments. On a motion by Brent Muckerheide and a second by Mark Young, the resolution receiving patrons petitions and determining need for projects (Exhibits A&B), the resolution authorizing execution of leases (or amendments) (Exhibit C&D), the resolution approving continuing disclosure undertaking

(Exhibit F) and the resolution assigning construction bids to building corporation once received (Exhibit G), were unanimously approved. Mr. Budd requested permission to advertise for bread and milk bids for the 2014/2015 school year. Permission was unanimously granted on a motion by Todd Mauer and a second by Mark Young.. A donation to the South Decatur Elementary Drama Department from Psi Iota Sorority Zeta Nu Chapter was unanimously accepted on a motion by Todd Mauer and a second by Chris Owens Student Handbook changes for the 2014/2015 school year were unanimously approved on a motion by Chris Owens and a second by Brent Mucherheide. The purchase of K-Time software/time clock system was unanimously approved on a motion by Annette Geis and a second by Mark Young. Mr. Budd requested Board approval of a summer food service agreement with the YMCA. North Decatur High School cafeteria staff will be preparing breakfast and lunch throughout the summer for the YMCA to pick up and distribute at twelve locations throughout Decatur County. On a motion by Todd Mauer and a second by Mark Young, the food service agreement was unanimously approved. In his report, Mr. Budd congratulated the academic bowl teams from both ends of the county. South Decatur High School s Math team placed 5 th in the State and North Decatur High School s mathe team was State runner up. The North Decatur High School Science team received a 4 th place finish. Mr. Budd reported on the recent FFA and Academic Banquets and technical honors diplomas. Mr. Budd reported that he would be bringing a 2015/2016 school calendar for Board approval in the fall.

Business Manager Louise Smith reported on her attendance at the IASBO Annual Spring Conference. Associate Superintendent, Dr. Mike Langevin reported on the elementary writing committee meeting, ISTEP & AP testing, curriculum mapping and the 21 st century learning committee. South Decatur Elementary Principal Kara Holdsworth reported on ISTEP testing, the recent musical, attendance party and congratulated the archery team for qualifying for worlds and having two students in the top 25. South Decatur High School Principal Jim Jameson reported on ISTEP testing, high school academic teams and the junior high academic teams that recently placed 2 nd and 7 th at State. There will be a Special Meeting on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Central Office beginning at 6:00 p.m. The next regular Board Meeting will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Central Office beginning at 6:00 p.m. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned on a motion by Todd Mauer and a second by Mark Young at 7:17 p.m.
