Policy Department A: Economic and Scientific Policy SHORT BIOGRAPHIES OF EXPERTS PHILIPP SCHEPELMANN Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy Philipp Schepelmann is project co-ordinator in the Research Group for Material Flows and Resource Management at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy. He holds a PhD in environmental planning (Dr.-Ing.). Dr Schepelmann manages research and consultancy activities for nongovernmental organisations as well as national and European institutions, such as the European Commission, the European Parliament and the European Environment Agency. His academic work focuses on societal and political conditions for successful ecological transition in multi-level governance systems. In particular he explores the use of scientific evidence for steering social and technological innovations in the right direction such as narratives, heuristics, indicators, and appraisal procedures. NICOLAS KREIBICH Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy Nicolas Kreibich graduated from the University of Cologne with a diploma in Regional Sciences of Latin America, focusing on political science. He has been working for the Wuppertal Institute since 2009. His main areas of work are the flexible mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol, the international climate negotiations as well as social and environmental impacts of climate policies. VINCIANE QUOIDBACH Senior Health Policy Consultant, Elleze/Milieu Vinciane Quoidbach is currently Senior Health Policy Consultant for her own company Elleze. With over 15 years experience in working with international and national public sector institutions, Vinciane Quoidbach has a comprehensive knowledge of the Belgian health system, the international and European Union health architecture, health policy issues and healthcare management. Her experience includes project management in public health (chronic and rare diseases, infectious diseases, mental health and substance abuse disorders), policy development and advocacy for UN Agencies. She worked for the UNDP and the WHO, provided support to Belgian and International NGOs in the area of development aid and conflict resolution. She also developed expertise in research and evaluation (Belgian and EU health related projects under the Health Programme 2008-2013). She worked at the Belgian Federal Public Service Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment, as Advisor in charge of the National Cancer Plan, National Chronic Diseases & Rares Diseases Plan. She worked for the Biopharmaceutical Company AbbVie, and since December 2013 works as independent Policy Consultant. She holds a Master s Degree in Healthcare Management from the Solvay Business School, a diploma in Public Health Management from the Manchester Business School, a Master s in International Politics from the University of Antwerpen, and a Degree in Political Science from the Catholic University of Louvain. 6

Workshop in view of the Hearings of Commissioner-Designates ROBERT PEDERSON Food Policy Consultants/Milieu Robert Pederson is the director of Food Policy Consultants, specializing in food, nutrition and agriculture policy, advocacy and communication. Robert s holds a MSc. in Food Policy, and bachelor degrees in Nutrition and Business. Previously, Robert was research fellow at Aalborg University, with a research and teaching focus on Sustainable Food Systems Transition and Governance, and is currently a visiting researcher and lecturer at Aalborg University s research group Foodscapes, Innovation and Networks (FINe). Robert advises a number of NGOs on food policy and was responsible for starting a consortium of NGOS working on issues of sustainability and health relating to food systems (EPHAC). Robert is active in EU policy discussions as member of expert groups in variety of areas from the Common Agricultural Policy, Food Safety and Nutrition and food chain governance. 7
