Enrollment Dates and Course Lengths: Open Enrollment No defined guidelines. The course lengths are customized to each individual s situation. We do not operate under a formalized completion timetable other than maximum allowable periods, nor do we operate under Instruction Periods. Enrollment Certificate: An enrollment certificate is issued to the student once enrolled in each course.(a sample is enclosed.) Page 2 of 7

Entrance Requirements: Private Pilot Course: Applicant must hold a student, sport, or recreational pilot certificate before enrolling in the solo flight phase of the private pilot course. Instrument Rating Course: Applicant must hold at least a private pilot certificate, with an airplane category and single-engine land rating, prior to enrolling in the flight portion of the instrument rating course. Commercial Pilot Course: Applicant must hold at least a private pilot certificate, with an airplane category and single-engine land rating and an instrument rating, prior to enrolling in the flight portion of the commercial pilot course. If the applicant does not hold an instrument rating at the time of enrollment, he / she may continue the course if concurrently enrolled in an approved instrument rating course. Scheduling: Students will be assigned to an instructor by the Flight School Manager. The scheduling of aircraft shall be completed through a flight school administrator or instructor. It is recommended that the student and instructor schedule all sessions prior to commencement of training. In the event a student needs to cancel a scheduled training session, a minimum of six hour notification will be required to avoid cancellation charges which will be equal to the scheduled ground and flight instruction and aircraft time schedule. 85 : 15 % Ratio: Avel Flight School is required to maintain a ratio of VA students to non-va students of 85 : 15 % or less. New VA students can only be enrolled if no more than 85% of all the student charges generated by Avel Flight School were for VA students. Page 3 of 7

Attendance: VA students must complete the following minimum hours of ground and/or dual or solo flight training each quarter in order to continue to be certified for VA benefits. Private Pilot Course: Instrument Rating Course: Commercial Pilot Course: 35 Hours 35 Hours 50 Hours (A quarter is 90 days in length and begins the first day of the student s ground or flight instruction.) Any student who fails to meet the quarterly minimum will be placed on probation for one quarter effective from the last of the present quarter. Any veteran on probation who fails to meet the quarterly minimums will be terminated for VA benefits. Exceptions may be made for bad weather or illness with supporting documentation placed in the student s file. Attendance records will be maintained for all periods for each student. Standards of Progress for Ground School and Flight Instruction: Flight Training: Dual flight entries will be graded as completed or continued by the instructor and signed by both the instructor and student. Solo flight entries shall identify the maneuvers or procedures practiced and shall be signed by the student and instructor. Stage Checks: In accordance with our training syllabus for each course, students will be required to take periodic Progress Checks (Stage Check) with the Chief Flight Instructor or designee. VA students who fail to complete (satisfactory) the check will be terminated for VA benefits. No benefits will be paid, nor will the student be certified for any training necessary to complete that Progress Check. The student can be reentered for VA benefits when the Progress Check has been passed. A school official may decline to reenter the student should it be determined that the student is unlikely to make satisfactory progress from there on out. Ground Training: Students who fail to maintain Completed (Satisfactory) labs for two consecutive labs will be terminated for unsatisfactory progress for VA benefits. No benefits can be paid, nor will the student be certified for VA benefits for any training necessary to complete the continued labs. The student can be reentered for VA benefits when the continued labs have been passed. A school official may decline to reenter the student should it Page 4 of 7

be determined that the student is unlikely to make satisfactory progress from there on out. In accordance with Public Law 93-380, all students have a right to access his/her records. Student Conduct: Each student must arrive at their scheduled lesson prompt, prepared, and in a business-like manner. Students must remain respectful of other students, instructors, and administrators and must conduct oneself in an orderly and considerate manner. Students will at all times comply with the Federal Aviation Administration Regulations and airport and school rules. Instruction will be given and documentation provided in these rules and regulations, and periodically and appropriately from time to time thereafter. Failure to comply with this policy in a habitual manner shall be grounds for dismissal from the school. Payments and Refunds: All courses are to be pre-paid. When a VA student withdraws or discontinues a course prior to completion, the student will be refunded the unused portion of the tuition fees and other charges. All course material, fees, flight hours, and instruction hours will be invoiced against the students account as they are incurred. Facilities: Ground instruction facilities are housed in three rooms, described below. The rooms are located in the 905 W. Irving Park Road, Schaumburg, IL 60193, Schaumburg Regional Airport. Room 1: Dimensions are 13-6 x 10-6 142 square feet. This room will accommodate a maximum of 6 students. Required school files and student records are kept upto date and available to students and instructors in this room. Room 2: Dimensions are 20-9 x 30-10 640 square feet. This room will accommodate a maximum of 50 students. This room is available on a reservation basis. Flight Planning room: Dimensions are 9-9 x 15-8 153 square feet. Continuous use of this pilot briefing area is available. The training rooms meet or exceed all local building, health and sanitation codes. Restrooms are provided in the building. Each room is well lit and has separate thermostat controls for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The rooms are designed and located so that students will not be distracted by instruction Page 5 of 7

conducted in other rooms or by airport operations. Credit for Previous Training: Any previous flight training will be evaluated for credit as outlined by the Federal Aviation Administration and the program will be shortened proportionately for all approved credit. A written record of any previous training will be maintained in the student s file. Certificate of Completion: At the successful completion of each course, a graduation certification will be awarded to the student. (A sample is enclosed.) Fees A complete list of course fees including aircraft and instruction rates and training materials is available on request from the administrator s office. Page 6 of 7
