Information for Students on Exchange in AY2016/17 A. University University of Amsterdam http://www.uva.nl/en/home B. Country Netherlands C. Academics ii) iii) i) Module Mapping & Credits Transfer Academic Calendar Exchange Duration Please ensure that your Study Plan is approved by the academics at your home faculty before the exchange. Modules approved in the past might not be offered by the host university or approved by your faculty when it is time for your exchange. Please check the latest course offerings at the host universities while you are preparing your Study Plan. Semester 1: August to January Semester 2: February to June One semester For more information about the exchange programme, please refer to http://www.uva.nl/en/education/other programmes/exchange iv) Examination Students are expected to attend the mandatory examination at the host university. v) Curriculum Structure The UvA uses European Community Course Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Full study workload is 30 ECTS per semester. Most courses are either 6 or 12 ECTS. Courses are given in semesters of 21 weeks comprising selfcontained units called modules. Classes meet once or twice a week for two or three hours. The UvA credit system is based on student workload. Student workload not only involves lectures and seminars, but also selfstudy. The Dutch grading system scale is from 1 to 10. A 6 means sufficient. Students hardly receive a 10. All other academic information varies depending on the programme in which the student is enrolled. Many European educational systems require from students a high level of individual responsibility and initiative. Developing an independent and critical way of thinking is strongly encouraged at UvA. vi) Entry Requirements For more course information, please refer to http://www.uva.nl/en/education/other programmes/exchange/globalexchange/courses/courses.html A minimum CAP of 3.0 out of 5.0 with no grade below C.
