43-222b.fm Page 2 Thursday, August 12, 1999 3:55 PM FEATURES Your RadioShack Two-Station Wired Intercom System is ideal for home, office, and shop applications. It is also convenient for monitoring activities in another part of the house, such as a baby s room. The system includes one master station and one remote station, with a 66-foot (20m) interconnection cable and staples for fastening the cable to a wall, floor, or baseboard. Your system s features include: Master Station Volume Control lets you adjust the volume of the master station for different listening situations. Wall-Mounting Option lets you save desk space by wall-mounting both intercom stations. Station Monitoring you can use the master station to monitor sounds at the remote station. 2 1998 Tandy Corporation. All Rights Reserved. 43-222b.fm Page 3 Thursday, August 12, 1999 3:55 PM Efficient Speaker/Microphone gives you clear sound with minimal background noise. Note: You need one 9-volt battery (not supplied) to power your intercom system. 3

43-222b.fm Page 4 Thursday, August 12, 1999 3:55 PM INSTALLATION INSTALLING A BATTERY Your intercom system uses one 9-volt battery for power. For the best performance and longest life, we recommend an alkaline battery, such as RadioShack Cat. No. 23-553. Caution: Use only a fresh battery of the required size and recommended type. 1. With the master station (the unit with the volume control) face up, open its case by inserting a coin into the slot between the top and bottom of the case and twisting the coin. Lift off the top case and lay it face down on a flat surface. 4

43-222b.fm Page 5 Thursday, August 12, 1999 3:55 PM 2. Snap the battery connector over the 9V battery s terminals. 3. Put the battery inside the case on top of the foam cushioning material. 4. Snap the case halves together. Cautions: Always remove old or weak batteries. Batteries can leak chemicals that can destroy electronic parts. Dispose of an old battery promptly and properly. Do not burn or bury it. 5

43-222b.fm Page 6 Thursday, August 12, 1999 3:55 PM CONNECTING THE STATIONS Choose the most convenient locations for the master and remote stations. You can place them on a desk or shelf, or mount them on a wall. Plug the connector on one end of the supplied 66- foot-long cable into the remote station s jack. Plug the connector on the other end of the cable into the master station s jack. 6

43-222b.fm Page 7 Thursday, August 12, 1999 3:55 PM Notes: Be sure to route the cable so it will not be pinched by doors or stepped on. Use the supplied mounting staples to hole the cable in place. Simply position the cable between the prongs of each staple you need, then gently tap the staple with a hammer until the staple s gray coating touches the wall. To install the stations farther than 66 feet apart, you can make a connecting cable of 22 gauge wire (Cat. No. 278-862) and two 1 /8-inch twoconductor plugs (Cat. No. 274-288). 7

43-222b.fm Page 8 Thursday, August 12, 1999 3:55 PM Wall Mounting For wall mounting, you need two flat-head screws (not supplied) with heads that fit into the keyhole slots on the bottom of the base. Drill two holes 2 5 /8 inches (67 mm) apart. Then thread a screw into each hole, letting the heads extend about 5 /32 inch (4 mm) from the wall. 5/32"(4 mm) 2 5/8" 672mm) 5 /8" 5 /32" Align the keyhole slots with the mounting screws and slide the station downward to secure it. 8
