ONLINE Bachelor of Business Administration

Business Administration Taylor University is a Christ-centered educational institution. Students, faculty, and staff form an evangelical, interdenominational community that is commited to becoming servant leaders who minister Christ s redemptive love to a world in need. In order to extend this mission from Upland, Indiana, Taylor launched its first online bachelor degree in 2006. Taylor University s first ONLINE bachelor degree. The Bachelor of Business Administration is an excellent program for students who desire a Christcentered education that is customizable to their schedule. This 120-credit-hour degree emphasizes project management, communication, best practices, innovation, and faith application in business. The program is designed to fit into your schedule. You can work on a course at anytime from anywhere, and will never have to be online at a specific time. Most classes have weekly assignment deadlines. Taylor utilizes Blackboard, a password protected interactive website, as the platform to deliver courses. Work on classes any time of the day. Courses are offered in two formats. Major courses are offered in a collaborative study format in which students interact with one another. Courses outside of major requirements are delivered in independent study format in which students work one-on-one with the professor. You can start the program at the beginning of any term (fall, spring, or summer). A little bit more about Taylor We have years of experience in distance education, and sent our first course by correspondence in 1938. Also, Taylor has been ranked the number one Baccalaureate College in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report for the past four years.

Curriculum total hours: 120 major hours: 55 general education hours: 40 elective hours: 25 Classes in the BBA program create a dynamic and demanding learning environment that prepares students to excel in their chosen career paths and future educational plans. Major classes are taught in an online classroom format in which students collaborate on projects and participate in discussions. Taylor believes in a holistic education. To achieve this, each TU degree is supported by a foundation of general education classes. We believe this foundation equips students to intelligently engage in society. Providing the student an opportunity to explore and delve deeper into subjects of personal interest, the BBA allows for 25 elective hours. Transfer up to 60 hours into the program.

I enjoyed this class because it seemed to provide practical ways to become an effective leader. We read a book studying the life of President Lincoln and discussed the qualities he possessed that helped him be a great leader. No matter what career I choose, the subjects discussed in this class can help me excel in my position. ~Whitney, 2010 Graduate

New Venture Planning Course Description Examines strategies, both personal and commercial, for effectively embarking on new ventures. Topics will include identifying and evaluating opportunities, developing the business concept and marketing plan, assessing and obtaining venture finance and other required resources, and harvesting the venture. It is aimed at guiding students who may be starting their own innovative businesses in the future, working for a high-growth company or building innovative ventures within an existing organization. Principles of Macroeconomics Favorite Class Macroeconomics was my favorite class. Why? Because I hated it so much that I had to work at it intensely to like the subject. Now in these economic times around us, I understand so much more that the lack of study would have never allowed me to appreciate. ~Peter-John, 2009 Graduate

Through the PLA, a student learns how to create a portfolio that showcases how his/her life experience has met the learning outcomes for a specific course. 30 credit hours can be earned through PLA, in addition to transfer credit. Ivy Tech Students Ivy Tech Community College Northeast and Taylor University Online have an articulation agreement for the BBA program. This agreement allows students to seamlessly transfer credit from Ivy Tech to Taylor. For more information, please contact Taylor Online or Ivy Tech s Student Support and Advising Services Office.

Faculty Faculty members are professionals in diverse fields, each with specific specialities. All have earned advanced degrees and bring you the most contemporary, practical and relevant education. Accustomed to the rigor of succeeding in business, these widelyexperienced professors bring expertise to the BBA courses along with enthusiasm and commitment to providing a Christ-centered education. Spotlight Chris Pelz, CPA Chris, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center, has taught for the BBA program since 2007. An alumnus of TU, Chris double majored in Business and Accounting, and went on to earn an MBA from IU. Chris is an active member of his community and sits on the YMCA Board of Directors.

Tuition The program utilizes two tuition rates based on the format of the course. Independent study format courses are $275 per credit hour. These courses are the general education requirements, minor classes, electives, accounting, and economics courses, which total 80 credit hours. Collaborative study format courses, which consist of the remaining major courses (total of 40 hours), are $350 per credit hour. Students retain the same tuition rates as long as they are enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per year. The application fee is the only fee associated with the BBA program. It is the student s responsibility to purchase textbooks, which are not included in the cost of tuition. The costs detailed below are for all 120 credit hours of the program. Transfer credit and Prior Learning Assessment work will reduce the overall cost. Initial cost (application fee): $40 Average cost per semester: $3,000 Total cost of the program: $36,040 Financial Aid Financial aid is available in the form of Federal Pell Grant and Federal Stafford Loans. To receive aid, students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Step six will ask for the school code of the institution the student attends; the Taylor University code is 001838. A grant is money for college that does not have to be paid back.the Federal Pell Grant is a need-based grant available to students who are enrolled at full-time, half-time, and less than half-time status. Up to $4,800 can be awarded per year. A loan is money that has to be paid back. The Federal Stafford Loan is distributed in two forms: subsidized and unsubsidized. Students with financial need receive a subsidized loan, whereas students who do not demonstrate need have the option of an unsubsidized loan. The difference between the two is who pays the interest on the loan while the student is in school and during the six month grace period after graduation or dropping below half-time status. During this time the federal government pays the interest on a subsidized loan, and the student pays the interest for an unsubsidized loan. For either loan, the student is responsible to pay the interest after the six month grace period.

Merit-Based Scholarship Merit-based awards are presented to students who demonstrate outstanding scholarship. This scholarship is available to all students from their second term through the completion of their degrees. The scholarship will be based on the student s GPA from the first semester with Taylor and is renewable each semester based on the student s cumulative GPA. To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must meet the following criteria: Registered for at least six credit hours in the previous semester Earned a cumulative 3.5 GPA or above Registering for at least six credit hours the following term (NOTE: If the student takes one or more semesters off, he/she will not be eligible for the scholarship the semester he/she returns.) Students are not required to file the FAFSA to receive the scholarship. Financial need is not considered for this type of aid. The scholarship amount will be based on the number of hours a student is registering for in the term the scholarship will be applied, and is as follows: Hours Registered Scholarship Amount 6-8 hours $250 9-11 hours $375 12 hours and above $500 Church Matching Grant This grant allows TU Online to match 100% of a church s contribution, up to a maximum of $100 per semester.
