JOHNSON COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE Transfer Program to the University of Kansas Edwards Campus KU School of Business, Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at KU-Edwards 2015-2016 Catalog CONTACT: Chris Claussen, BBA Advisor PHONE: (913) 897-8419 E-MAIL: claussen@ku.edu WEB: www.edwardscampus.ku.edu/bba The KU School of Business offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), a degree completion option consisting of upper-level coursework. Required lower-level and general education coursework should be completed prior to entering the BBA program. The KU BBA program is offered in a traditional classroom-based format at the KU Edwards Campus with late afternoon/evening classes. The application process is two-part: 1. Apply to the University of Kansas through the Office of Admissions by visiting www.admissions.ku.edu/transfers. Complete applications must include official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended. Students should request these materials be sent directly to the KU Office of Admissions. For application deadlines and university admissions requirements, see www.admissions.ku.edu/deadlines and www. Admissions.KU.edu/requirements. 2. In addition to applying to the university, students must complete a separate application for the KU School of Business BBA program. See www.edwardscampus.ku.edu/bba. Applicants who have not met the prerequisite requirements will not be considered. JCCC students who will have completed all the prerequisite requirements prior to transferring should contact the KU BBA advisor to learn about the application process. Call 913-897-8419 to schedule an appointment. The application deadlines are December 1 for spring admission, May 1 for summer admission, and July 1 for fall admission. * Minimum requirements for competitive admission to the KU School of Business BBA program at the KU Edwards Campus include: 1. Completion of a minimum 60 college credit hours, which must include the following foundation (BBA prerequisite) coursework: a) Financial Accounting (ACCT 200) b) Managerial Accounting (ACCT 201) c) Microeconomics (ECON 142) d) Macroeconomics (ECON 144) e) Intro to Information Systems (IST 202)/or Survey of Information Systems (IST 205) KU-Edwards Campus students only f) Statistics (varies: any Statistics course whose prerequisites include College Algebra) g) General Psychology (PSYC 104) 2. 2.5 minimum GPA, in all of the following versions of the GPA: a) Overall college GPA all college credits earned b) Overall professional GPA all business and economics credits earned c) KU overall GPA all credits earned at KU, if applicable d) KU professional GPA all business and economics credits earned at KU, if applicable 3. Admission to the University of Kansas: a) Apply online at www.admissions.ku.edu/transfers. b) Submit an official transcript from each college attended. c) See university admission requirements at www.admissions.ku.edu/transfers. 4. Submission of the BBA-specific School of Business application by the application deadline. Please Note: * It is possible to gain admission to KU and take business classes as a pre-bba student. * Only applicants meeting the above requirements at the time of application will be considered for admission to the BBA program. Because admission is competitive, eligibility per the above requirements does not guarantee admission. * Only courses with a grade of C or better apply to program requirements. Courses with earned grades of D or F will still be included in GPA calculations, but do not satisfy KU requirements. Transfer D s DO NOT count as credit earned. * Pre-admission courses should be taken for a letter grade (no pass/fail or credit/no credit). * A maximum of 64 community college credit hours are applicable to KU degree requirements. Students with more than 64 community college credit hours will have an increased total credit hour graduation requirement. 56 university (4 year school) credits are required. * The BBA program allows for elective course options (number varies by student) that can be counted within the maximum 64 community college credit hours AND the total credit hours required for graduation. Developmental and practical arts are not applicable to the BBA. Students completing an associate s degree should work with a JCCC counselor to fit course requirements within 64 credit hours. * Students are required to complete a minimum 45 credit hours of junior/senior-level coursework and a minimum 30 credit hours of KU business coursework after admission to the BBA program (courses in residence) prior to graduation. It is the student s responsiblity to check for updates to this information, which is subject to change. +Completion of a JCCC AA degree satisfies the first three goals of the KU Core general education requirements.
