Hi Sassy Sewing Sisters! Leigh and I want to first thank you for sharing your daughters with us for the last 2 weeks of July. Our sewing camps were successful beyond imagination. We were blown away by the dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to learning the best practices of sewing that your daughters exhibited. We took tons of photos of their works of art and will share them with you real soon. Secondly, we wanted you to be the first to hear about our Fall line-up of classes for kids and adults (yes, moms we heard your cry for quilting classes!) Each of the children s classes will last 90 minutes and be structured as follows~ We will spend the first few weeks working on a small project. With this project we will instill The Lost Arts best sewing practices and get everyone comfortable sewing nice straight seams, learning the sewing lingo and getting comfortable using a sewing machine, seam ripper, scissors, etc. We will also use this time to assess the skill level of each of the children so we can create a customized sewing program that will enhance their skills and catapult them to the next level. Starting in mid-september we will start a second project a really cool quilt. From this point forward, the first hour of each class will be focused on the quilt and the remaining 30 minutes will be spent either completing the original small project or working on additional small projects. We will have samples of all of the small projects at each class so you will be able to help your child select a project and kit that is appealing to both of you.

The class fees are $75 per month for tuition plus the cost of the kits. The cost of each quilt is listed under the appropriate class heading. We have selected projects for the small project that will have kits for $25 or less. Classes begin the week of Monday, August 30 th and will be held at the home of Leigh Givens-Ulmer (5674 Wilmer Dr. in North River Crossing Subdivision) C L A S S L I N E - UP Mondays from 4:30p-6p Quilt: Love Ages 7 and up This fun, funky quilt was an instant hit with the focus group we showed it to this summer (your daughters who were in camp!). It measures approximately 55 x 60 and is a perfect size for curling up on the couch or layering on top of your daughter s comforter. The kit price for this quilt is $125.00 and includes all fabric, batting, backing, binding and thread.

Mondays from 6p-7:30p Quilt: Bohemian Flourish (with a twist) Ages 10 and up This quilt is stylish, modern and sophisticated for your Tweens and Teens. Imagine this pattern with bright, funky fabrics similar to the ones shown in the Love quilt and you ll have a great idea of what to expect. This lap size quilt will measure approximately 55 x 60, just perfect for a rainy day or movie night. The kit price for this quilt is $125.00 and includes all fabric, batting, backing, binding and thread. Wednesday from 4:30p-6p Quilt: Love All Ages If Monday isn t great for you, we re offering an additional class day. All children, ages 7 and up are welcome to attend. This fun, funky quilt was an instant hit with the focus group we showed it to this summer (your daughters who were in camp!). It measures approximately 55 x 60 and is a perfect size for curling up on the couch or layering on top of your daughter s comforter. The kit price for this quilt is $125.00 and includes all fabric, batting, backing, binding and thread.

Thursday Evening Moms Class Quilt: 5 & Dime 7:30p-9:30p We know how hard it is to get away in the evening but you won t regret reserving Thursday night for our Sewing Sistas Session. For 2 hours you ll have fun learning how to quilt, brush up on your sewing skills (yes, we will expect you to learn The Lost Arts way of sewing) and enjoy fellowship with your neighbors. For the first few weeks we ll focus on a small project to get everyone up to speed, then we ll move to the 5 & Dime quilt, a 63 x87 oversized lap quilt. We ll reserve the last 30 minutes of class for working on smaller projects, catching up on what we covered with the quilt or giving you special attention on a technique you ve been dying to learn. The kit price for this quilt is $125.00 and includes all fabric, batting, backing, binding and thread.

So what do you need to send with your daughter or bring to class? o Your sewing machine (if you have one) & instruction manual o Scissors o Notebook & Pen How do I sign up myself or my daughters? Simply fill out the registration form at the end of this letter. We are offering family discounts if you sign up multiple family members at the same time. The monthly tuition will be reduced by $10 for every member of the family who signs up for the year with the primary member. In other words, if you sign up yourself and 2 children, you would pay $75 per month and both of your children would pay $65 per month. What things do we have in mind for the smaller projects? We ve been brainstorming ideas for the smaller projects and here s what we re thinking. While we won t have kits for all of the items listed below at the same time, we ll rotate these kits in throughout the year. Of course, if you come across something you just have to learn to make, let us know. We bet your friends are interested in making it, too. We ve added photos of some of the items so you ll get a feel for what s in store. These are just to get your creative juices flowing. The actual fabrics and patterns may indeed be different.
