Product Overview StarWind HyperConverged Appliance (HCA) unifies commodity servers and storage hardware, hypervisor and associated software into a single scalable layer. It is designed for ROBO, mid-sized and especially small SMB who are looking to bring in quick deployment and operational simplicity to virtualization workloads and reduce related expenses. StarWind HyperConverged Appliance has minimalistic initial hardware footprint of just two servers. Network switches are optional. Scaling unit is just one server at a time. Compute and storage resources can be leveraged individually matching customer workload and other requirements. HyperConverged Appliances are pre-configured, pretested and pre-tuned for every specific case, and shipped by StarWind's hardware partners. StarWind employs the "best of breed" components for HCA: server hardware from Dell, and associated software which plays the key role by turning the commodity servers into a fully functional hyperconverged appliances. Microsoft Hyper-V is used since it is the hypervisor of choice for most Enterprise ROBO and smaller SMB. StarWind Virtual SAN is used for virtual storage and Veeam Backup and Replication utilized for VM backup. In order to manage the hypervisor, Microsoft SCVMM is employed (optionally 5nine Manager) and for security ESET Antivirus (optionally 5nine Antivirus). We cut down operational costs even further by allowing the use of either a free Hyper-V Server or a fullblown Windows Server 2012 R2 with Hyper-V role enabled. The latter comes with a number of Windows VMs already licensed, thus reducing TCO. StarWind is the one throat to choke in terms of support. StarWind HCA costs at least 40% less than all the components separately, thanks to cooperation between StarWind and their software and hardware partners. DATASHEET 4

Components StarWind HyperConverged Appliance comes in various configurations, depending on the model. The following is a complete list. Note that the included component sets differ in different models. Servers: Dell PowerEdge T430 / Dell PowerEdge R630 / Dell PowerEdge R730 provided by StarWind premier hardware partners. Hypervisor*: Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2012 R2 Microsoft Hyper-V Server is a dedicated stand-alone product that contains the hypervisor, Windows Server driver model, virtualization capabilities, and supporting components such as failover clustering, but does not contain the robust set of features and roles as the Windows Server operating system. As a result, Hyper-V Server produces a small footprint and requires minimal overhead. Virtual Shared Storage*: StarWind Virtual SAN V8 StarWind Virtual SAN is entirely software-based, hypervisor-centric VM storage which "mirrors" disks and flash between the servers running virtualization workload. It eliminates the need for any physical shared storage and seamlessly integrates into a hypervisor for unbeatable performance. Virtual Machine Backup and Replication: Veeam Backup and Replication V9 Veeam Backup & Replication provides fast, flexible, and reliable recovery of virtualized applications and data. It brings backup and replication together in a single solution to both increase the value of backup and reinvent data protection for virtual environments. Monitoring, Reporting and Capacity Planning: Veeam ONE V9 Veeam ONE V9 provides advanced monitoring, reporting and capacity planning for virtual environment and backup. It seamlessly integrates with Veeam Backup and Replication V9 and also brings in performance and configuration assessment, enhanced 24/7 monitoring and alerting. Management: Microsoft SCVMM Microsoft SCVMM, or System Center Virtual Machine Manager is a management solution for the virtualized datacenter, enabling you to configure and manage your virtualization host, networking, and storage resources in order to create and deploy virtual machines and services to private clouds that you have created. * StarWind HCA also supports VMware vsphere and VMware Virtual SAN as options for hypervisor and Virtual SAN. Read more in the corresponding Data Sheet. DATASHEET 5

Typical Configurations Two Model L Nodes A typical for Small and Medium Business setup: 2-node cluster, running File Server, SQL Server, Exchange etc. Three Model L Nodes A typical for Small and Medium Business setup: 3-node cluster, running File Server, SQL Server, Exchange etc. One node added for more compute power and VM storage. Three Model L Nodes + Two Model XL Nodes A typical for Medium Businesses 3-node SMB cluster, running File Server, SQL Server, etc. 2 XL nodes are added for a 150-seat VDI project. Three Model L Nodes + Two Model XL Nodes + Six Model S Nodes A typical setup for Enterprise ROBO: 5 nodes in the head office, minimalistic 2-node clusters on remote locations, with replication to main site. Asynchronous replication to Azure added as a simple disaster recovery solution. DATASHEET 6

Models StarWind HyperConverged Appliance comes in three model lines S, L and XL. They differ by technical specs as well as purpose in order to fit most of the typical deployment scenarios. Additionally, all the models are mutually compatible, so it is easy to build a customized infrastructure in exact accordance with the business requirements. The S model line is the budget platform for small companies and numerous remote offices. L and XL are more advanced lines and offer gradually better performance and features, and offer all-flash configuration options. They fill the roles of hyperconverged infrastructure for larger SMB and Enterprise. DATASHEET 7

StarWind HCA Model S HCA Model S is the entry level system designed for SMB and ROBO. The starter set packs all the essential components in just 2 servers simplifying the configuration and minimizing the initial investment. Tower form factor simplifies the deployment for customers who don't have a rack available in the office, rack mount kit can be optionally added to the 2-node starter set. The 2-node starter set does not require dedicated network switches and can be plugged in directly into the existing network switch 1. All storage traffic runs through a direct connected 10 GbE back end and does not affect existing networks. StarWind HCA Model S scales-out to a maximum of 16 nodes.
