Treatment Plants and Sanitation for Pure Drinkable Water (2014-1-TR01-KA202-013113) Project Information Title: Project Number: Pure-H2O: Implementation of ECVET for Qualification Design in Drinking Water Treatment Plants and Sanitation for Pure Drinkable Water 2014-1-TR01-KA202-013113 Year: 2014 Project Type: Status: Marketing Text: Summary: Transfer of Innovation granted The Pure-H2O transnational project will strive to enhance the operation and analysis of the potable water and treatment plant sector in order to protect the environment and improve urban infrastructures in line with EU directives that include the Adoption of Acquis as well as support the accession process of Turkey to the EU. The means employed to achieve goals will be the: increasing of the level of knowledge within VET systems by improving information and guidance systems as well as magnify the EU dimension; application of learning outcome based training and defining competence standards; and finally, the implementation of EUROPASS, EQF & ECVET instruments to ensure that work related training within the potable water and treatment plant sector across the EU will be strengthened. Pure-H2O was developed to provide a tool that will promote transparent environmental planning and education in the development of sustainable and sound practices in the area of potable water and related treatment plants. This project will contribute to the recognition and transparency of qualifications at the EU level and provide an innovative model for competencies for the potable water sector. Thereby, the VET institutions will have the means necessary to enhance the skill set as required in the various disciplines and workplaces to workers within the potable water supply field. The main dilemma that Pure-H2O intends to tackle is the lack of mutual recognition of qualification that is often impaired by national restrictions by applying EUROPASS, EQF and ECVET instruments. Being that there are several partners from various countries within and outside the EU, it should help qualify and quantify what are the issues that seem to be the most in conflict with each other and provide a roadmap through these qualifying instruments that will apply not only to partner countries but EU-wide. The application of these instruments will also assist Turkey in the Adaption of Acquis and carrying out the 9th Development Plan as part of Turkey accession process. As the project continues, this page will be regularly updated. Description: The Pure-H2O project came about with the understanding that advanced water technology provides for a rise of green jobs and a desire improvement of the sector s training capacity and employability. An investigation into the potable water supply sector showed that in Turkey and in the majority of EU countries, including PureH2O partners, the national curricula for vocational education needs training resources in order to provide target groups with the necessary green competencies. It is also found that in most cases an unsatisfactory situation where there is a gap to be filled. The Pure-H2O project intends to rectify the situation: - supporting the exchange of good practices and promoting green competencies; - presenting training materials in attractive and practically enriched model; - gaining new jobs for young people in the potable water supply sector; - exploring water business sector and its opportunities for young entrepreneurs in the partner countries. The PureH2O project consortium will utilize the varying strengths and experience of 2
Treatment Plants and Sanitation for Pure Drinkable Water (2014-1-TR01-KA202-013113) Project Information the diverse partnership that will help bring about the desired results as well as assure a high level of quality for all project activities outcomes. The consortium includes seven partners from four countries Turkey, Bulgaria, Germany and The Netherlands and is composed of three universities, one university chamber, one research & development center and two SMEs. The preparation phase of the PureH2O project was performed in accordance to the requirements for VET Strategic partnership projects stated in ANNEX I of the Erasmus+ guidelines 2014. In order to ensure the best results, the workload for Pure-H2O will be divided into six lines of activity: 1) the development of project administration and management; 2) the creation of the blended learning portal; 3) the building up of ECVET-based systems for secotral qualification; 4) the testing and evaluation of the project products (Essen); 5) the dissemination and exploitation activities; and 6) the preparation of the final evaluation and reporting documents as well as arrange post-project life activities. EQF/ EQF/NQF principles will be applied to PureH2O project training model. The establishment and pilot testing of the PureH2O training process model will serve as a tool for verification of their feasibility and practical application. Cross-border mobility will be included as an instrument to combat unemployment, which is a primary goal of VET practices. This teaching-training model can be used as to establish the PureH2O project model for EQFbased qualification development. Thus, the water supply sector will be well equipped to provide business with opportunity to adopt necessary ECVET evaluated qualification, along with EUROPASS that will provide additional job mobility. The kick-off meeting will take place in January 2015. As the project continues to develop, we will include the meeting outcomes.
