Alternative or optional methods are provided for synchronous technologies so not to create time-barriers for students. Media used have clear instructional purposes that reinforce the content and support the learning objectives. Require little download time and are accessible in Blackboard or a standard web browser. Learner Engagement & Motivation Interaction and Participation Social Motivation and Self- Regulation Uses a variety of methods and strategies for establishing a sense of community among learners (actively engage learner). Student-to-student & student-to-instructor interaction. Students have several opportunities to engage in student-to-student learning activities and student-to-instructor interaction. Tools such as discussion boards, blogs, wikis, group activities, or social media activities are utilized to promote engagement and support the learning objectives. Expectations regarding student interaction in the course are clearly defined. Uses a balance of strategies and activities to foster group work as well as support intrinsic motivation. Provide access to upcoming course content and prior modules to support learners as they construct knowledge (advanced access to assessment activities is not implied). Promote learning contexts that may be personally important to the learners and provide some choices the student can make about their own learning; e.g., goals, research topics, etc. 6

Evaluation & Assessment Plan for Improvement Student Feedback Assessment Plan Other than the university s end-of-the semester course evaluation; the course includes methods and strategies for students to provide feedback on their learning experience. A survey early in the semester may be one avenue to collect such feedback in order to make course adjustments.
