IEQAS at a Glance Objective The IEQAS is aimed at fortifying domestic universities management skills of international students by suggesting ideal standards for the recruitment and management of the foreign students. Content Four-year universities with 20 or more foreign students and two-year junior colleges with 10 or more international students are subject to the evaluation in terms of ratio of full-time international faculty; ratio of outbound students; ratio of international students filling the student quota of universities [Ratio of international students x (multiply) Ratio of domestic students filling the quota]; and the drop-out rate of international students. After the evaluation, those institutions will be accredited or face various disadvantages. Follow-up measure Tertiary institutions received accreditation with a good results will have IEQAS mark and more chances to benefit from the Global Korea Scholarship. For those with issues found will face disadvantages such as restriction on issuance of visa for undergraduate students.
Cont d Assessment methods for IEQAS 2012 Qualification In principle, any higher education institution can apply for the IEQAS recognition. However, the application for the IEQAS recognition will be limited to those higher education institutions with restricted financial funding for 2013; 20% or more of the dropout rate of the international students; or small number of foreign students (university with less than 20 students, junior college with less than 10 students). IEQAS accreditation using quantitative and qualitative indicators IEQAS certified means more chances to benefit from the Global Korea Scholarship program by suggesting ideal standards for the recruitment and management of the international students.
