Should a challenge be made and not verified, the contestant or relay team will be eliminated from the event. Please bring copies of when your times and distances occurred to the District meet (meet sheets, final results, etc.) You may enter 3 qualified athletes and one relay per event. Your ONE alternate per event should not be entered online. Please write those entries on the alternate sheet and email to us. Your relay time must be entered on the attached sheet also along with the meet name and what meet your team earned the time. If we don't have these sheets from you by noon, we will make a call to your home school from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on May 12 th to check and see if you have entries for the meet. RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING DISTRICT X, PIAA TRACK AND FIELD EVENTS 4 P age
1. The State Board of Control of the P.I.A.A. shall govern all meets. 2. District Meets shall be held under the jurisdiction of the District Committees of the P.I.A.A. 3. P.I.A.A. eligibility rules shall apply to all contestants. 4. National Federation Track and Field rules shall govern all P.I.A.A. meets except where the Board of Control modifies these rules. These modifications, if any, are listed in the P.I.A.A. Rules and Regulations. 5. If a District Team Champion is named, points shall be awarded as follows: 1 5t place 10, 2 nd place 8 points, 3 rd place 6 points, 4 th place 5 points, 5 th place 4 points, 6 th place 3 points, 7 th place 2 points, 8 th place - 1 point 6. Changes in your online entries will not be permitted because of the school's clerical error. 7. The event order is listed on a separate sheet. 8. The District Committee will try to conduct the various events using only Trials and Finals. If, however, the meet management deems this impossible, the inclusion of semi-finals is authorized. 9. If it is found that more than one heat will be necessary in the 400 meter relay, 1600 meter relay, 3200 meter relay and 400 meter dash, 800 meter run, 1600 meter run, and 3200 meter run, the heats shall be run against time. The first eight place winners shall be determined by their performance. The District Committee reserves the right to run any or all of these races on the stagger. 10. In the official record of the District Championship meet, the individual credited with the fastest time or the greatest height or distance in each event shall be credited with the District Championship. Team records shall be treated likewise. 11. Field equipment: a. Participants in the pole vault and javelin throw must provide their own equipment for these events. The equipment provided must be in accordance with National Federation rules. b. The javelin, discus, and shot shall be weighed and measured by the officials in charge of the meet and marked to indicate conformity with specified standards. Pole vault entry forms must be completed in order for entry to compete. c. The officials in charge shall inspect all implements and equipment used in the District Championship meet and shall reject any implements or equipment not in conformity with the specified standards as set forth in N.C.A.A. rules. d. In case any equipment furnished by participants, the pole vault or javelin, is broken or otherwise rendered unfit, the authorities in charge of the meet shall permit the use of emergency equipment, which will be provided. 12. Each school will be limited to three entries and one qualifying alternate in individual events, and seven in relays, but no more than three participants may compete in individual events and four in relays. Six relay names will be accepted by the PIAA for the State meet. 13. In the District and State Championship meets, a contestant may participate in four events. 14. No contestants will be registered unless identified by the Principal of the school or his representative. 15. Net proceeds of the District 10 Meet will be retained in the District Treasury. 5 P age
DISTRICT X TRACK AND FIELD MEET RULES AND REGULATIONS BOYS AND GIRLS AAA AND AA MEETS 1. Coaches and contestants, unless officiating or actually competing, should sit in the stands. Only judges will be allowed at the finish lines. Coaches must assist contestants off the field when not competing. Athletes should not warm up in any event area unless supervised by an event official. No electronic devices should be in any competition area. 2. All throwing implements will be weighed in promptly at 2:30pm for AAA (in senior high gym), and 9:00am for AA (under the stadium by the concession stand). Only implements bearing weigher's stamp may be used. For the AA meet, the pole vaulters will be checked in under the bleachers, and at the AAA meet, pole vaulters will be checked in at the pole vault area. 3. Shot and discus rings are a concrete surface with official metal rings bolted in the concrete. 4. Javelin runway is all-weather. 3/16" spikes only at both meets. 5. There will be trials and finals in the shot put, discus, javelin, long jump, and triple jump. There will be three (3) throws or jumps in the preliminaries or trials, and three (3) throws or jumps in the finals. Top flights will be last so that the potential top 9 athletes will be near for the finals. Best effort stands in the finals. 6. In the field events, if ties occur for first place, please follow the current rules in the 2012 Rule Book. 7. All contestants must report when first calls are given. No delays. 8. Starting blocks will be provided but you may bring your own. Bring your own Moye Block. 9. Spikes no longer than 3/16" may be used on the track for both meets. 10. If necessary, reseeding of heats may occur if top-seeded athletes scratch an event. This will be done to insure that the top remaining athletes are properly placed in preliminary heats or finals. Please listen to "scratch" announcements during the meet. 11. Runners must return in his/her lane at finish line for proper place identification by finish line judges. Do not leave track until finish places are recorded. Officials will dismiss contestants after identification is complete. 12. Relay teams should bring your own batons. Check rules on the type that may be used. Only tape is permitted on the track to make relay exchange areas...at both meet sites. 13. Awards will be given out for 8 places in all events. Call at awards table immediately after each final. Proper attire at the awards presentation ceremony shall consist of school issued warmup suit of school issued track and field uniform and shoes. Jewelry (including watches), bracelets (cord or cosmetic), headbands, wristbands, hats, head coverings (except for religious reasons), sunglasses (except prescription), and men's boxer shorts are PROHIBITED. 14. Champion teams in each class will receive trophies. 15. Using an F.A.T. timing system, final times will be recorded in 1/100's. The Finish Lynx timing system will also allow us to view finish line photos and break ties with 1/1000 accuracy. Final recorded times at the District Meets will be electronically transmitted to the State for seeding purposes from the Hy-Tek Scoring Program that is now required to be used by all districts in the state. 16. An athlete may not be scratched from the PIAA Track and Field Championships after the District entry form has been submitted to PIAA Headquarters unless the scratch is for illness or injury and certified by a physician prior to the day of the PIAA Championship meet, or by a staff trainer during the PIAA Championship meet. Scratches for other reasons will result in an athlete being disqualified from the PIAA Championship meet. 6 P age

Entry and participation by member schools in those tournaments sponsored by District 10 is totally voluntary if they qualify. Entry of a team by any member school into a tournament signifies that the member school accepts the conditions and provisions that are inherent with tournament rules, regulations, and guidelines.
