The purpose of this documentation is to describe the protocols used by Ulteo Open Virtual Desktop. ULTEO SAS - HTTP://WWW.ULTEO.COM 2014-2
Section 1 How can I report a bug? Send an email to report-ovd-bugs@ulteo.com with a description of your bug. Please attach those files : Session Manager: /var/log/ulteo/sessionmanager/main.log Linux Application server: /opt/ulteo/var/log/ulteo/ovd/slaveserver.log Windows server: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ulteo\ovd\log\slaveserver.log config file: session manager: /var/spool/ulteo/sessionmanager/config application server: /opt/ulteo/etc/ulteo/ovd/slaveserver.conf ULTEO SAS - HTTP://WWW.ULTEO.COM 2014-3
Section 2 Where is the file upload button on OVD? The file upload feature is not available in OVD. But you can mount a network filesystem (CIFS, NFS...) for the purpose of sharing files. 2.1 We are interested in better understanding customer needs to have a file transfer capability in OVD. We believe there are two typical use cases regarding user data within OVD: either you are using CIFS or NFS so user home folders are mounted from the CIFS or NFS servers or you are using the "local filesystem" on ApS servers. This is only intended for testing purpose since if you have several ApS servers, the user home folder won t be synchronized between servers As a result, if you are using CIFS or NFS, the user is likely to already have access to his directory to store his own files on a NFS or CIFS server. So in that case, having a file transfer button is redundant since the user can retrieve user data in OVD through the mounted directory. If you are using the local ApS filesystem, it could make more sense to be able to transfer files, but again this setup should really only be used for testing purposes only. Section 3 Why did I got a No available server message when I wanted to launch a session? You have to check 2 points: Do you have at least one Application Server online AND set in production mode? Did you publish at least one application? (check the summary: http://myserver/ ovd/admin/sumup.php) ULTEO SAS - HTTP://WWW.ULTEO.COM 2014-5
Section 4 Why does my Application server not appear in the Session Manager server list? check that the DNS is configured correctly check if the server is authorized, did you set the right "Authorized network domain" ULTEO SAS - HTTP://WWW.ULTEO.COM 2014-6
Section 5 How to check the DNS configuration? Check your DNS configuration using these commands: On an application server: $ getent hosts sm. test. demo $ getent hosts the_ ip_ returned_ from_ the_ previous_ command On a Session Manager: $ getent hosts my_ application_ server $ getent hosts the_ ip_ returned_ from_ the_ previous_ command The reverse DNS must be the same between the two sets of commands as you can see in the following example: $ getent hosts sm. test. demo 192.168.0.19 sm. test. demo $ getent hosts 192. 168. 0. 19 192.168.0.19 sm. test. demo ULTEO SAS - HTTP://WWW.ULTEO.COM 2014-7
Section 6 What ports does Ulteo Open Virtual Desktop 4.0.1 use? All ports are TCP SessionManager: 80 (HTTP): communication with administrator 443 (HTTPS): communication with administrator 1111 (HTTP): communication with slaveserver WebPortal: 80 (HTTP): communication with end user 443 (HTTPS): communication with end user ApplicationServer: 1112 (HTTP): communication with SessionManager 3389 (RDP): communication with end user Fileserver: 1112 (HTTP): communication with SessionManager 1113 (HTTP): communication with ApplicationServer 445 (CIFS): communication with ApplicationServer Gateway: 1112 (HTTP): communication with SessionManager 443 (HTTPS): communication with end user ULTEO SAS - HTTP://WWW.ULTEO.COM 2014-8
Section 7 Why do I get a "Class XXXX not found"? If you are sure of your configuration, it s possibly a bug, please report it to us. ULTEO SAS - HTTP://WWW.ULTEO.COM 2014-9
Section 8 Why do I get this error after installing an Application Server? * Starting Ulteo OVD SlaveServer chroot : cannot change root directory to / etc / init. d/ ulteo - ovd - slaveserver : No such file or directory Check if you have a correct installation: does Ulteo s chroot exist? (by default it is /opt/ulteo) ULTEO SAS - HTTP://WWW.ULTEO.COM 2014-10
Section 9 Why are Internet Explorer and Outlook Express not detected on my Windows Application Server? Internet Explorer and Outlook Express shortcuts are not installed in the All Users start menu folder so Ulteo OVD cannot detect them. The easiest way to have Internet Explorer and Outlook Express icons appear as applications from the OVD administration console is to copy the Windows shortcuts into the All Users start menu folder and restart the OVD service. ULTEO SAS - HTTP://WWW.ULTEO.COM 2014-11
Section 10 Why don t I recover my session when I exit it without log off? Is there any session recovery in Ulteo OVD? In Ulteo OVD 3, a desktop session can be recovered when configured in the OVD Administration Console. In OVD 4, the session recovery capability was extended to also provide session recovery for seamless applications (Portal Mode). The concept of session roaming was also introduced which allows a user to reconnect with a different device. In this case, OVD will resize the sesssion to suit the new display characteristics. From the Configuration page, go into Session settings and set Yes on the Sessions are persistent settings. ULTEO SAS - HTTP://WWW.ULTEO.COM 2014-12
Section 11 When I launch a portal, I see applications but I cannot launch them. There are grey links instead. Portal applications remain grey until the Application Server s session is available. The session may never be up and running due to: Firewall issue: read ports used by OVD 4.0.1 Wrong redirection name: check if the redirection name is available for the end user.
