Master of Science Interdisciplinary Studies in Biological and Physical Sciences Harlem Campus PROGRAM TIMELINE Online applications will be accepted from November 1 through April 1. All supporting materials must be received by April 15. All M.S. students matriculate in the Fall Semester, and the program must be completed within two semesters: -Fall Semester begins end of July -Spring Semester begins early January -Graduation is early in May PROGRAM OVERVIEW All major courses in the M.S. Program are taught by professors of the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. M.S. students attend some major courses alongside the current D.O. class. Admission to the D.O. Program at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine is limited to the top 35 M.S. students ranked by M.S. Program GPA, who have met the following standard: -Completion of the M.S. curriculum -A GPA of 3.5/4.0 or higher -A Pass on the Comprehensive Examination Conferral of the M.S. degree is contingent on a GPA of 3.0 or higher and a Pass on the Comprehensive Examination.

Mission Statement The Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine is committed to training osteopathic physicians, with a particular emphasis on practicing medicine in underserved communities, and to increasing the number of underrepresented minorities in medicine. We value and support public service, research, and osteopathic clinical service in the community that will strive to improve health outcomes for those we serve. We will work to educate students through the use of latest innovative education techniques using summative and formative measures so as to graduate qualified osteopathic physicians. The Program and its Objectives The Master of Science program in Interdisciplinary Studies in Biological and Physical Sciences has been carefully designed for students who have the strong ambition to complete a medical education. The program is intended to immerse students in the Medical College Curriculum so that candidates can determine whether the content satisfies their academic curiosity while the Medical College evaluates their potential for professional success. All courses are offered at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine campus in Harlem and are presented by the Medical College Faculty in lecture, workshop and laboratory venues. The major courses include graduate students in the Medical College classroom and laboratory. Medical College Courses include Anatomy and Embryology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Histology/Cell Biology, Immunology and Microbiology, Neuroanatomy and Physiology. The faculty will encourage students to reach their full potential as they learn to focus on clear objectives in each course. Student performance will be closely followed with frequent evaluations and opportunities for corrections throughout each term. Admission to the D.O. Program at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine is limited to the top 35 M.S. students ranked by M.S. M.S. Program- Application Requirements Harlem Campus Academic requirements for admission to the M.S. Program will be evaluated on an individual basis by the program administrators. An interview by phone, Skype or during a personal visit to the campus will be required. The summary of admission requirements follows: 1. Baccalaureate Degree from an Accredited College At the time the application is filed, applicants should: a) Possess an undergraduate science grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. b) Possess an overall grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale. All foreign transcripts must be accompanied by a recognized evaluation transcript. 2. Prerequisite Courses One year of English Composition (6 credits) One year of Behavioral Science (6) One year of Biology w/lab (8) One year of General Chemistry w/lab (8) One year of Organic Chemistry w/lab or Biochemistry (8) One year of Physics w/lab (8) One year of Mathematics may include Calculus or Statistics (4) No prerequisite course will be accepted with a grade below 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. 3. Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) 4. Three Letters of Recommendation Two should be written by individuals who can evaluate the applicant s science background.
