2 Types of Medical Schools Allopathic awards an M.D. degree --- Generally look for a science GPA of 3.4 or better and MCAT s of 30. Osteopathic awards a D.O. degree--- Generally look for science GPA of 3.2 or better and MCAT s of 27.
3 Minimum Requirements for Medical School Admission Must have a good science and overall GPA to meet school s AVERAGE requirements. Must meet the school s AVERAGE requirements on each section of the MCAT exam. Must have meaningful clinical exposure and should have extra-curricula activities especially in your community or abroad. Research activities are also very helpful.

7 Medical Science Programs PMED non-traditional applicant, career-changer students, part-time only MSP premedical students who need to improve their MCAT &/or GPA IMS premedical students with acceptable MCAT scores desiring to improve upon their previous undergraduate performance DPMS premedical students who are socio-economically disadvantaged or underrepresented students in the health professions according to AMCAS criteria, need to improve their MCAT and GPA. VMS pre-veterinary students who need to improve credentials for admission into veterinary medical school.
8 Evening Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program (PMED) Career-changers. Little or no science courses. Age of students: 23+ yrs of age. Variety professions: lawyers, social workers, nurses, educators, engineers, PA s, etc. First class entered Fall 2001; wanted to offer Philadelphia region something that did not exist. Most have full-time careers or other daytime responsibilities. Undergraduate level, part-time, certificate program.

Interviews are held in early spring semester, after first semester grades received. For those who do not apply to Drexel Med during the IMS program, the guaranteed interview continues for the MMS program. A minimum of 25 seats are guaranteed to be set aside for students in the medical science programs.
