Rotary Movement The rotation direction (clockwise counterclockwise) can be selected using the rotation direction switch (see part 7 in Fig. ), thus eliminating the need to re-wire. To ensure tight closing of the dampers, the actuat has a total rotation stroke of 95. Fig.. Setting units and control elements As soon as operating power is applied, the actuat may start to run. When power is removed, the actuat remains in position. F actuat-controller wiring instructions, see section "Wiring" on page 4.
SmartAct N0/N00 DAMPER ACTUATORS FOR FLOATING / -POSITION CONTROL Rotation Direction Switch Position Indication The hub adapter indicates the rotation angle position by means of the rotational angle scales (0...90 / 90...0 ) provided in the actuat plate (see Fig. 5). Fig.. Rotation Direction Switch Dir (" ") is the default shipping position. When the rotation direction switch is set to this position, the actuat internally switches the rotation direction control signals as stated in section "Wiring Diagrams" on pages 5 and 6. "Service/Off": When the rotation direction switch is set to this position, all actuat rotary movement is cancelled and all control signals are igned, thus enabling the actuat to be manually operated (see section "Manual Adjustment"). The user can then perfm maintenance / commissioning without having to remove power from the actuat. To return to the control mode, simply move the rotation direction switch to its fmer setting. Rev (" "): When the rotation direction switch is set to this position, the actuat follows signals as stated in section "Wiring Diagrams" on pages 5 and 6. Two-Position Floating Control The actuat is capable of being operated by either a twoposition (open/close) a floating (three-wire) controller. Refer to wiring diagrams f crect connection. Manual Adjustment Fig. 5. Position indication IMPORTANT To prevent equipment damage, you must remove power set the rotation direction switch to the "Service/Off" position befe manual adjustment. After removing power setting the rotation direction switch to the "Service/Off" position, the gear train can be disengaged using the declutch button, permitting the actuat shaft to be manually rotated to any position. The feedback signal will then follow the new position. Limitation of Rotation Stroke Two adjustable mechanical end limits are provided (not applicable f N4xx) to limit the angle of rotation as desired (see Fig. 6). Feedback Signal Actuats equipped with a feedback potentiometer provide position feedback via the potentiometer resistance value (see Fig. 4). P totally CCW totally CW = max. ohm totally CCW = 0 ohm = 0 ohm P totally CW = max. ohm P1 500 Ohm 1 kohm 5 kohm 10 kohm Fig. 6. Mechanical end limits The mechanical end limits must be securely fastened in place as shown in Fig. 7. Specifically, it is imptant that they properly mesh with the rotational angle scales when the screws are tightened. Fig. 4. Feedback signal settings If, while the actuat is not rotating, the user declutches it and manually repositions the shaft adapter, the feedback signal will then follow the new position at which the shaft adapter has been left. SmartAct N0/N00 DAMPER ACTUATORS FOR FLOATING / -POSITION CONTROL Internal Auxiliary Switches NOTE: Only those actuats f which "-SW" has been specified when dering (e.g.: "N0-SW") feature internal auxiliary switches. The internal auxiliary switches are set to switch from "common" to "nmally open" at angles of 5 and 85, respectively, from the totally counterclockwise position. Self-Centering Shaft Adapter The self-centering shaft adapter can be used f shafts having various diameters (10...7 mm) and shapes (square round). In the case of sht shafts, the shaft adapter may be reversed and mounted on the duct side. Stroke Limitation with Mechanical End Limits The mechanical end limits (not applicable f N4xx) enable the stroke to be limited from 0...90 in increments of. Wiring Access Cover To facilitate wiring the actuat to the controller, the access cover can be detached from the actuat. Fig. 8. Internal auxiliary switch triggering points INSTALLATION These actuats are designed f single-point mounting. IMPORTANT In der to prevent equipment damage, you must remove power set the rotation direction switch to the "Service/Off" position befe manual operation. Mounting Instructions All infmation and steps are included in the Installation Instructions supplied with the actuat. Mounting Position The actuats can be mounted in any position (except upside down). Choose a mounting position permitting easy access to the actuat's cables and controls. IMPORTANT Remove power befe detaching the access cover. Once the access cover has been removed, please take care to avoid damaging any of the parts now accessible. Fig. 9. Access cover (N0-SW) Depending upon the model, the access cover may have one two terminal strips, including a lay-out with a description f each of the terminals. Mounting Bracket and Screws If the actuat is to be mounted directly on a damper shaft, use the mounting bracket and screws included in the delivery package. Fig. 10. N0-SW with access cover removed 4
