Matt s trip to Japan I started learning Japanese four years ago and, two years later, I visited Japan for three weeks with other classmates. We flew to Osaka and I was surprised at how big Osaka irport was. We stayed one night on the 10th floor of a new building and then took a really quick train to Hiroshima that journey was an even bigger surprise! We went to Kyoto next. I lost my camera there so I drew lots of the places I saw. In Kyoto, we stayed at Utano Youth Hostel. It had nice rooms for eight, and some warm, helpful people worked there. When we arrived at the school in Yokohama, all the students welcomed us in the hall with songs and music. Then we were shown around and my homestay family collected me. They gave me great food and made me use my Japanese every day, so it got much better. They drove me around too. I did many activities at the school, like Japanese drumming and sport. I tried Japanese writing but it wasn t easy. The volleyball team let me practise with them, which was fun. It rained a lot during our last days in Tokyo but that wasn t a problem. The shops were great but what I won t forget is the number of people everywhere. I m sure I ll go back one day. 10
