SECTORIAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROCESS AUTOMATION IN THE REGION CHEMICALS Singapore s petrochemical industry has expanded rapidly as a direct result of its refinery capacity. Petrochemical exports jumped by 98 percent in January 2010, along with increased global demand for primary chemicals. The production of base oleo-chemicals in Asia grows by around 7.1 % per year. Malaysia and Indonesia respectively hold 18.6% and 12% share of the world's oleo-chemical market of six million tons per year. FOOD PRODUCTION / PROCESSING The Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand automation and software solutions market for the food and beverage (F&B) industry has an estimated growth rate pegged at 10 15%. Consumer preferences have changed, with demand for high-quality products that promote health. This evolution attracts foreign direct investment (FDI) drives growth in the region. The F&B market is expected to generate revenue of US$107.0 million by 2015. PETROLEUM / ENERGY Malaysia has announced the building of a 5 million cubic metre petroleum storage facility in Pengerang, Johor. This will be home to oil & gas projects worth RM20 billion. Singapore has 70% of the world s market for jack-up rigs and 70% of the global market for the conversion of Floating Production Storage Offloading units. Singapore is the world's third largest refining centre and remains an attractive destination for foreign investments in oil refinery even in the face of the economic downturn. Exxon Mobil Corp., Royal Dutch Shell Plc and Singapore Refining Co. operate four refineries here with a total capacity of about 1.4 million barrels a day. Singapore s LNG terminal on Jurong Island, expected to be operational in 2013, will be Asia s first open-access, multi-user terminal. Apart from allowing Singapore to import regasified LNG for its own needs, it will open up opportunities for companies to make use of the terminal for LNG trading. The Gorgon Project, Australia s largest ever resource investment, involves the construction of a 15 million tonne per annum LNG plant on Barrow Island and a domestic gas plant to supply gas to Western Australia. With an estimated capex of over US$97 billion through 2009 to 2013, Asia is expected to witness an increase of 77% in terms of capex and is expected to represent the second largest share of the global capex spend. Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, India and China all have development prospects in the pipeline which require process and control engineering needs. Palm oil is used to create biofuel and is a renewable energy source. Indonesia and Malaysia are the world s two largest producers and exporters of palm oil, accounting for 87 percent of output, according to USDA data. WASTE & WATER MANAGEMENT With the growth of these industries comes the need for environmental solutions to manage the pollution problems resulting from hazardous waste produced. The global water market, including waste-water treatment, desalination plant construction and water recycling, is estimated to be worth around US$316 billion, according to estimates by the investment bank Morgan Stanley. Optimisim for a further global economic rebound in 2011 could drive demand growth for oil, sending prices above US$100 per barrel. China s energy demand is expected to jump 75% by 2035 (IEA World Energy Outlook, 9 November 2010). Asia has the highest rate of motorisation, with China replacing USA as the world s largest car market in 2009. Singapore is seen as an offshore centre in Southeast Asia. The key activities of Singapore s marine & offshore industry include building offshore structures and marine vessels, vessel design and engineering. Featuring OFFSHORE AUTOMATION The Offshore Automation cluster within CIA2011 provides you an opportunity to showcase the latest process control and instrumentation solutions for offshore oil and gas where growth is currently robust.

WHY YOU SHOULD TAKE PART IN CONTROLS, INSTRUMENTATION & AUTOMATION 2011 Singapore is a global player in oil refinery and Asia s largest oil-trading centre: ExxonMobil, Shell and BP all have operations in Singapore and use the trade show as a sourcing ground for process technology solutions. Generate new revenue streams in growth markets. Supply your products and services to meet burgeoning demand from growth markets in the region. One in three exhibitors generated 50 business leads and above at CIA2009. A one-stop shop for process engineering and environmental management solutions: EnviroAsia, an exhibition showcasing environmental, ecological and clean technologies, will be held alongside CIA. Focusing on four industry segments waste, water, energy and air, visitors can shop for process engineering as well as environmental management solutions in the same venue. Visitors with large investment budgets: The visitors who attend CIA source for plant, process engineering, instrumentation and environmental solutions for various industry sectors. INVESTMENT DECISIONS ARE PLANTED HERE With over 700 companies from 43 countries and close to 8,000 trade professionals from middle to upper management, CIA is where investment decisions for cutting edge plant and process engineering technology are made and new deals are cemented. More than 80 percent of visitors found the show useful for their purchasing decisions. Getting the fundamentals of process engineering designs right, before implementation, will eliminate the guesswork in control tuning and process optimisation during operations. And with advanced control measures and technologies deployed, plant optimisation can be achieved along with the highest level of safety. With these key issues in mind, the Plant Processes & Control Networks Conference 2011 will focus on the offshore industry as it explores these topics: DESIGN & PROCESS AUTOMATION Design trends and solutions for new or refurbished plants getting process and instrumentation designs right before implementation Technological developments in process engineering and process control to achieve process automation Process simulation technology solutions to ensure cost efficiency and effectiveness in achieving optimisation objectives Process control system security SAFETY IN OPERATIONS Process safety management identifying hazards/risks in operation processes, and reviewing operating procedures to establish safety integrity levels Designing safety instrumented systems key considerations, and pitfalls to avoid Preparing for emergency response, and conducting comprehensive incident investigations training, diagrams, checklists Overview of regulatory requirements for plant safety (in Asia), and implications If you are interested to attend the conference, please write to Chock Fang at wcf@sesallworld.com to register your interest and be added to our database.
